Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

That was a nasty shock - glad you got it all sorted out, but am sure it left you feeling frazzled.

That’s frightening! Glad you’re okay and that you found someone to fix the socket quickly (hearing you on the not needing the expense!). Hope things look up from here on.

Oh, dear! I'd have seriously panicked! Thank goodness you got it all sorted out.
Saturday, May 28th, 2022 11:18 pm (UTC)
Oh my goodness! That would have scared me half to death too!
Saturday, May 28th, 2022 11:30 pm (UTC)
oh NO! <3

Glad you were able to get it all taken care of. That sounds, well, alarming is what comes to mind, but not the word I am actually looking for. I would have been freaking out (understatement). Electricity is not something anyone wants to mess with and that is not something anyone would have expected to deal with.

I finished another square (number 22) for my throw. This one is called 'London'.

Hooray for another finish (and I didn't realize you were already to 22). I like the texture.

Have just finished the cross stitch - it’s not ironed or framed yet but this is it…

Cross stitch

I managed to get a frame for it while shopping today - it’s not quite what I was looking for but we have a very limited number of locations to try and there was only one that was big enough so there wasn’t much option - although a gift that I want to frame taking it to the usual framer (although he does a fantastic job and is great value) was more than I wanted to spend on this occasion.

I've started working on the new quiet book today - well, last night, actually, when I spontaneously cut out a great deal of small parts that will be needed. I've begun with the castle puzzle page, as that's something I've already done twice recently, so I hoped the momentum will carry me on. And it did. All decorative pieces are sewn on, including a lot of sequins that had to be fixed individually. Only the small flags on the turrets are left (unless I replace them with sparkly pom-poms... I haven't decided yet), so tomorrow I can start sewing on the Velcro pieces again. What a joy - not! But needs must.

I ended up finishing a large part of the project I showed you all before bedtime last night, then this morning I woke up, frogged both shirts, and started over.

Plus I went back to the one with the stitch that was bugging me and ripped the whole letter out (you can see it in that last link up there), partly because I got new thread that almost but not quite matches and I didn't want it to look weird, and partly because I just thought it looked bad. I'm 1.5 letters back in and it's slighly better, but I will still never do this stitch again probably. Bleah.

I've done nothing but embroidery all day, really. Well, I watched the new Obi-Wan Kenobi show. But otherwise! And I'm still stitching! I want to get this stitch out of my life today, that's the goal. It's more fun than stressful - but there's some stress.

There comes a point when you know something has to be redone. It's never good but will be worth it to get a result you're really pleased with.

I've done more project prep work than anything else lately; making lists of missing supplies, swatching markers to see what works and looks best, researching - that kind of thing. I still haven't been able to figure out a way to catalog ongoing projects to help prioritize what's going on in a way that isn't overwhelming.

I also went through the cookbook I have been cooking my way through and marked all the recipes I haven't made yet, but currently have all of the ingredients on hand to make them.
