Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today did not go to plan. I got some writing done early, decided to spend the afternoon playing computer games, and I was installing a few more games on the old laptop when I heard a weird crackling noise and smelled burning plastic. I yanked the laptop plug out of the socket and it left two of its prongs behind; they'd melted off. So then I had to call an electrician to replace the socket, which meant emptying my desk so I could move it out the way...

The electrician was lovely, he even found and fitted a replacement plug for the old laptop's charger, but it was an expense I could well do without, and meant instead of a relaxing afternoon playing games I was run off my feet and wound up feeling very stressed. Seems like all my laptops are jinxed in one way or another. *sigh*

That’s frightening! Glad you’re okay and that you found someone to fix the socket quickly (hearing you on the not needing the expense!). Hope things look up from here on.

Have just finished the cross stitch - it’s not ironed or framed yet but this is it…



I managed to get a frame for it while shopping today - it’s not quite what I was looking for but we have a very limited number of locations to try and there was only one that was big enough so there wasn’t much option - although a gift that I want to frame taking it to the usual framer (although he does a fantastic job and is great value) was more than I wanted to spend on this occasion.

Thanks. Beyond frazzled really, I was freaking out and panicking because my neighbour who knows electrics is away, and my friend who fixes stuff for me is also away, and I didn't know what to do. I'm not very good in a crisis =/

I've been to London, I don't remember it looking like that... I think I Would have called the pattern Sand Dunes or something similar. That's what comes to mind when I look at it. I can't quite figure out how the effect has been achieved.

It was very scary, relieved to get someone out to fix it so fast, they arrived less than an hour after my call.

I've started working on the new quiet book today - well, last night, actually, when I spontaneously cut out a great deal of small parts that will be needed. I've begun with the castle puzzle page, as that's something I've already done twice recently, so I hoped the momentum will carry me on. And it did. All decorative pieces are sewn on, including a lot of sequins that had to be fixed individually. Only the small flags on the turrets are left (unless I replace them with sparkly pom-poms... I haven't decided yet), so tomorrow I can start sewing on the Velcro pieces again. What a joy - not! But needs must.

Good idea to do the page you're most familiar with first. Sounds like you're making great progress! Good luck with the velcro sewing.

It's based on the side of one particular building, I can't remember which. The whole series is a bit odd, but will do for different squares. It's just a knit and purl pattern, which requires careful counting!

It's surprising what can be done with just knit and purl.
