Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: What kind of crafting supplies can you never resist buying?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Small steps bring you to your destination, eventually.

Glad you felt like doing some crafts.
Thursday, February 27th, 2025 10:37 pm (UTC)
Yay for progress! I like doing decreases, because the rows keep going faster and faster. :-)
Thursday, February 27th, 2025 11:38 pm (UTC)
Hope you're recovering well and back on form. Well done with the decreases - should pick up speed as the rows get shorter, no?

Way to go! Progress is progress!

I have finished two more lavender sachets and glued on a felt appliqué to a third one; the only one that's already filled, or else I'd have sewn on the appliqué. But I refused to undo the whole sachet just because I got an idea concerning decoration.
Thursday, February 27th, 2025 09:52 pm (UTC)
I wouldn't redo it either.
Thursday, February 27th, 2025 11:39 pm (UTC)
Well done - I look forward to seeing how things look when you're done.
Thursday, February 27th, 2025 11:58 pm (UTC)
Seems sensible. Why make more work for yourself? Although the applique sounds lovely, the undecorated sachet will still be eminently functional.

Way to go! How many sachets do you plan on making? I do love a pretty applique, no lies. One day I'll make something that is worthy of all the appliques I have collected and dragon'd over the years.

I pulled out a ufo & figured out what pattern I was using. I couldn't find my notes but I tinked it back to a point that I can start at. I'll be glad to have a new pair of fingerless gloves for my new job. I start on monday!

It's always nice to be able to pull out an old half-done project and start working more seriously on it!

Good luck for Monday!

Cannot remember when I last posted or how far along I was on the latest quilt.

But an image of the layout:

I finished the pale purple trivet a bit ago. I think I'll do a red next.

I pulled the two popup books out of the book press and got them mailed off today. Also I managed the body of the teddy bear onesie for the stuffed rabbit. Still need to do the sleeves, hood, and ears, and get all those bits sewn together. Thinking I can finish in the next couple of days! Will definitely post pics. Also I finally got around to winding a shuttle to make a replacement bookmark for my very apologetic mother. I watched a Youtube tutorial for a quick refresher on a technique I learned years ago but never really use. I am going to try using it for the replacement bookmark to see how I like it. If it works, I can work a shuttle and ball instead of two shuttles, and I won't have to refill bobbins and add new threads as often on really big/long projects, which would be nice. Makes the project slightly less compact and portable but I think it'll be worth it in the end if it works.

I'm starting on outdoor / garden stuff. I bought a pink rock with lots of mica, an upright slab with a fossil, and several cobblestones for edging. None of those are in their permanent places yet because the ground is still frozen, so they're still projects-in-progress.

I've been slowly working my way through the fairy window, wedging in new plants and moving empty pots down to the storage shelves. I have a ton of new pots for indoor and outdoor uses that I am contemplating whether to decorate before I fill, and if so how.

Last month I assembled the hippie strand. I still have the yarn that I need to assemble into a wall hanging, but I have not yet found something to string it on and I might want a few jumbo beads too.

Oh, and we just bought a big garden cart with a dump feature, that holds 9 cubic feet of whatever. Assembling that will be our next major project, whenever the weather's warm enough because we stashed the huge box in the garden shed for now.

>> This Week's Question: What kind of crafting supplies can you never resist buying? <<

It's not any one thing. It's that I rarely walk into a craft store without buying something, and indeed, more than I planned to buy. I'm often attracted to "Oh hey, I didn't even know people sold that!"
