Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Have you ever made something and then had no idea what to do with it?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

That sounds really stressful. Good luck.
What kind of monster is it?

Now I'm really curious!

True. I just went and read the first part - it is really creepy!

... is finally finished. I'm not entirely happy with her, especially the face turned out a bit weird, but for a first attempt it will do. I intend to make at least one more.

And since two angels are better than one, I've also made a stitched angel card - well, the stitched part anyway. I'll make the card itself tomorrow or the day after.

It's the eyes that don't work. I keep forgetting that one shouldn't use simple felt-tipped pens on wooden beads - the colour always runs out a bit.

The video suggested acrylic paint, applied with hair-fine brush, but I'm afraid my hands won't be steady enough for that. But since I do have leftover acrylic paint, I might give it a try.

I think she looks lovely and I really like the face. I think it works great.

I've finished the first of the two Japanese bird cross stitch designs slightly ahead of schedule.
Still haven't decided if it needs some backstitch, which might depend on how much time I have left once the second one is done. It's also the first kit where I ran out of some colours but luckily scrounged a few spare bits from other completed kits. Strange since they're usually so generous with the threads and I'm also pretty frugal with waste. Might come down to not having enough to do the backstitch. At a distance they don't look so bad, but I think the flower clusters need some more definition.
Still have to order the frames and hope they don't break the glass during delivery (our postal service always toss parcels around like they're all made of marshmallows). I should probably order them sooner rather than later in case I have to return broken ones.

My knitting class has started! And everyone who was there the first week showed up again at the second week, huzzah! Alas, our progress is really slow, which worries me some. For one of the students, I've decided to switch her from metal straights to bamboo circs - she keeps dropping the needles because they slide out of the stitches, so I'm hoping the bamboo circs help.

Along with the knitting class, I've started working part-time, 20 hours a week for about a month and a half now. It's going pretty well, but it does mean less time for crafting! So I am STILL behind on the Santa stockings. I sat down with them today and worked on them for 3.5 hours. Wanted to do more, to at least finish the beards, but the beards take an hour each and I am getting tired. I plan on working on them heavily tomorrow, too.

That's about it from me. I've been so busy that I haven't even been reading here for a while, so I hope everyone is doing well and that your projects are going swimmingly. <3

Wow, you are busy indeed! Congratulations to the knitting class and also to the part-time job. I'm looking forward to see the Santa stockings, they sound like really spectacular things.

Congrats on the class going well and the part time job!
