Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: Do you have any crafting plans or ambitions for 2023?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Plans for this year — finish the arm warmers that are knitted but not sewn up, including the pair I'm knitting at present. Finish the mini meece brooches I was working on. Make bouncy spiders. I'm aiming for maybe 50, but it depends on how the sewing goes since I'm way out of practice. I'd also like to knit at least one sweater.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, everybody!

But be warned, the verses will be back
About meeces and items for keeping the arm warm
They may be written by a hack
But at least they mean no harm
(They also don't rhyme, but they end the same....)

As for today, I only managed one third of the planned crafting. At least my jellyfish is done, and I've cut out the front panel of the little crab. Better than nothing.

First day of the year, there's still plenty of time to finish what you're working on. One item done is still progress.

I have one big goal for the year, which is to prep for my art show in August. I have one BIG thing planned, with a couple of other small ideas, and otherwise I'm just asking some of my friends to send back their presents for a week so I can display them and then return them!

Perhaps this year is the year I re-learn sewing? I do want to learn to use a sewing machine again to do simple stuff.

You and me, too. Even if my Louise is only a 20cmx20cm baby sewing machine.

My hubs got me a couple of new crewelwork embroidery kits for Christmas. I mean, they'll probably cool their heels in my stash with my other two dozen+ embroidery/cross stitch kits, but I'd like to think I can actually make some process. I'd like to pull out my spinning wheel at least once a season rather than once a year, too!
And I'd really, really like to figure out where the fairies absconded off with my knitting needles because I have a huge box of wool for jumper knitting and nothing to knit them with! I even tidied my craft room over the Christmas holiday and they didn't turn up so who knows... I'll probably just give up and buy a new set.

--make at least one doily, hopefully in the tapestry method.
--refill my gift stash (have scrubbies, dishcloths, and trivets available to make a gift baskets)
--afghan for brother-in-law to be next year's main Christmas present. Maybe.
I finished weaving in the ends on the dad hats. Asked how many he needed and mom said 4 was enough. I like how the lower one turned out.

This is potentially too ambitious and I won't beat myself up if it isn't possible, but my husband and I have been talking about being Mina and Jonathan Harker for Halloween for years, and I want to be able to make us costumes this year. Otherwise, I'm going to finish knitting these dang slippers and then focus on gift knitting!

You'll get there with your slippers!

It's only January 1st, but I do have crafting plans for this year!
* Finish the peppermint swirl blanket.
* Make a crocheted hoodie for myself.
* Make a baby blanket as requested by mom.
* Make two graduation blankets, one for third nephew and one for second niece.
* Plus my usual Nerdopolis shenanigans, of 3-5 smaller projects each round.
So yeah, I should be very busy this year!

Wow, that's a lot, it should indeed keep you busy this year!

Hello, everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I'm woefully behind on blogging but rest assured the crafting has been off the charts with working on things until I drop (and then being too tired to turn my laptop on and join in here because... well, it's really hard to upload photos from my phone to DW for posts.) I meant to log in at Xmas and say hello and then new year... anyway, I look forward to catching up with everyone's crafting endeavors even if I can't possibly comment on them all. Over the next day or two I will make an effort to update my page with projects and photos. You've all been in my thoughts and I hope everyone's doing well.

Glad to hear you've been finding time for crafting, sounds like you've been beyond busy! Hopefully I'll catch up with posts at your journal sometime soon. Looking forward to finding out what you've been busy with!

Re: Craft list 2023
That's a LOT of projects, and a lot of variety - sewing, painting, writing, artwork... You are multi-talented, and I look forward to pictures as you get things done, or when you have time (I'm slacking with pictures myself).

* finish the dolphin tapestry
* make a cross stitch for a friend expecting a baby
* finish something substantial crochet wise (there is a blanket started an age ago, I bought stuff for a sweater for me - so any project would do)
* make some more cards for next Christmas (cross-stitch but I also have another idea to try as well) - and find the ones I made last year and lost so I can give them away next year.
I have some other ideas but as I'm not doing too well on making any progress just at the moment, I'll leave my list at that and just say that apart from the baby project, nothing is fixed and so anything I do is a start and enjoying it is the most important bit.
