Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

Today has been about Halloween prep. I've got my lights and decorations out, fixed labels to the plastic baskets the various novelties are in, and dug out my witch hat and cloak. Tomorrow I just have to put batteries in the lights and the skulls, get everything set up, and hope it doesn't all get drenched or blown away. I also just realised my ghost wasn't in the box of decorations. I'll have to look for him tomorrow, maybe he's with my bats, which won't be going out. Come to think of it, the ghost probably shouldn't either. Wet ghosts just look sad.

I had a good crafting day, despite various chores. I've sewn on all decorative strips to the front page and even started on the Velcro work. I hoped I'd be able to do one half of it, but my fingertips protested empathically, so I gave up at 1/3. Tomorrow is another day.

In preparation for later, I also printed out some templates: a helicopter, a sailing boat, a submarine and a train. They seem blessedly simple, but as we've seen before, appearances can be misleading.

This morning I was trying to sketch and color so I wouldn't make the same mistakes on the doily...and then saw myself making the same mistakes in the sketch. Sigh. This was the point I decided to let this one go. I will pick another pattern, with a proper chart, and do the tapestry technique with it.

For my afternoon chores, I painted the areas in the stairs that didn't have plaster work. You'll note this is what it looked like after I scrubbed decades of junk off. I want my husband to put up the light next to make the rest easier. I'd also like to thank my ancestors for my height/long arms, and dexterity in both hands. Painting over the creepy basement stairs drop was not my favorite.

I finished the knitting the flower bowl today. The first round of decreases gave me some fits, and I had to fudge the stitch count a bit. I don't know where I went wrong because it should have worked out, but I tinked it TWICE and was not about to tink again. It's been through the wash, but didn't get felted as much as I wanted so it's in the dryer now.

Eastern Dragon is NOT going to get done in time for Nerdopolis' deadline, so I set about trying to find a quicker project to do. The dragon was going to be for a challenge related to Dungeons & Dragons, so first I considered a skeleton of some kind but then I decided on a bat (there are bat monsters in D&D). I had some difficulty choosing a pattern, there's a lot of cute bat patterns, but eventually decided on the filet crochet bat example from Stitch & Bitch's The Happy Hooker, as I have the book and thought it'd be fast. I have six rows done already, should have no problem finishing the rest tomorrow.
