Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Attempting to finish niece's blanket today. It's 1:19pm my time, and I've got 6 rows and the border (simple single crochet, one round) left. Doable! Will comment again later with an update.

3:33pm, two rows of white left, and I'm going to lose at yarn chicken. >_< Thankfully, I do have another project I had started with one of the skeins of white, so I can frog it and reuse it, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to. Taking a short break for a snack and a bit of a rest and then I'll dive back into it again.

Cheering you on! You can do it - although very frustrating having to use the other yarn.

I ran out of the skein I was working with near the end of the penultimate row, so instead of frogging the shawl I had started, I frogged my very generous swatch. It was plenty to finish the last row.

At 6:15pm my mom called me down for dinner, and I had about a yard of the border left at that time. Finished the border after dinner and started weaving in ends. At about 7:35 pm I decided I was done for the day, because my hands kept cramping when sewing in the ends. I'll finish it tomorrow and take good beauty shots in the sunlight!

Best of luck!

Keeping in the shade is a good idea by hot weather.

Over here, it is nice and sunny, but also incredibly windy, so that even airing the flat is a challenge. The wind keeps temperatures at a tolerable level, but this not being able to air the rooms properly is not good. Now that the outer walls are insulated we should air them *more*, not less.

Indeed not, but some fresh air would be nice.

I decided to stay inside this afternoon - I got my laundry done yesterday and there was no point in overheating.

Today wasn't a very crafty day. I cut out some more parts to the nativity felts and started working on the dreaded book binding; that is, I prepared the strip of fabric for the inner binding. I hope I haven't made any stupid mistakes, although in this phase that's always a distinct possibility. The fabric is too nice to have it butchered.

Thanks. This is my sixth quiet book, but the binding part is always scary.

I finished the first editing pass on my novel draft, so while I let that rest for a bit, I'm getting back to knitting again with a few more rows done on the scarf.

You're doing exceedingly well on both points!

Thank you!

Being able to turn to knitting is a great way of productively taking a break.

I agree entirely!

Thank you! I sure hope so :)
