Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

You can simply declare them space meeces. ;)
In Hungarian (and German) bats are called "leather mice" - perhaps yours are related?

They'll each be individual with their own character with differing ears. I bet they look great.

Oh my goodness! Meeces with ears! Meeces pieces!

I bought the stuff to make a felt zombie and printing the pattern but haven't gotten round to actually cutting it out and making it.

But I did finish a nice autumn puzzle. Bread & Butter Farm, 1000 pieces, Charles Wysocki.

Thank you!

Yes, I hope to get to it sooner, but very true.

Thanks!

Well done on the puzzle. You'll have everything ready for the zombie when you do get to it.

Thank you! Yes, I need an alternate crafting universe where I can devote time to it.

Here are the first finished cookies:

From the left: macadamia cookies, banana cookies (the dead frogs got a straw hat with flowers to look better), [personal profile] spikesgirl58's double ginger cookies (disguised as spicy red apples), hazelnut cookies, peanut-chocolate cookies and, in the front, triple orange cookies. Meaning that they contain orange peels, both fresh and candied, orange aroma and real orange juice, as well as orange blossom aroma. They are even covered with orange icing and sprinkled with orange flavoured sugar. It sounds a bit much, but they really taste fantastic, for all that they look like shapeless little pancakes.

For this comment I chose a Bilbo icon because baking is so very Hobbit-ish. *g*

The orange ones are exquisite indeed. But all of them are yummy one way or another.

A beautiful display. I have to commend you on the frog ones! They look very fun.

Hilarious, aren't they? They looked so desperately ugly - so much like dead frogs indeed - in their original state that I really needed to do something to improve their looks. ;)

Yum - they look and sound amazing.

I'm really content with the way they turned out. On to the next batch!

Saturday I accomplished three things:

(1) Three rows on the blanket.

(2) Finished the hat I was crocheting!
A crocheted beanie.

(3) Made a bath pouf!

A crocheted yellow bath pouf.

The pouf counted for Nerdopolis (one of our challenges this month was the color Yellow). I crocheted it while listening to KupoCon's online convention for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, the newest expansion in my MMORPG that's releasing soon!

Sunday: all my creative energy went towards dinner. I rarely cook so it takes a lot out of me. I had to shop for ingredients, too, so it was a chore. I made Salsa Rice Enchiladas (recipe in this entry) and white corn with green chilis. I did feel a bit bad not working on the blanket, but I just didn't have the oomph.

Today: Two rows on the blanket, and a bit of crochet on another hat.

I'm hoping to really buckle down and get a lot done on the blanket in the next few days. I'm also planning ahead to Thursday, when I will be going to Stitch Club at my local library for the second time (the first time I went was right before the pandemic closed everything down). The blanket's too bulky to bring with, so I need to come up with something to bring, hmm.

Well done on your progress on the different projects. I hope you enjoyed your special lunch - it is exhausting cooking something that takes lots of effort.

That's a lot of things done on a single weekend! Go you!

I had changed my mind on Sunday about how I was sewing the squares for the blanket together and so have put them into batches of 10 and made 4 strips of 10 - 5 wide 2 deep in colour schemes. The squares were made as a mix of 2 colour squares and then single - so each ten has 5 x 2 colour and 3 of 1 single colour and 2 of the other. Last night I finished the last set of 10 which hadn't quite been done, and then I bordered two of the strips in a very pale yellow. My plan now is to border the other two tonight (hopefully) and then either try to crochet them together or I'll sew the strips together. Then I just need to border the whole thing - so it's at least 2 or 3 more days work. I do like the effect of adding the border - it seems to give the blanket a bit more stability.
