Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I got more baking supplies today to start the big frenzy during the weekend. I tell me that it counts. Also, I gave away some of the lolly stick ornaments and the mini-mittens to visiting friends, since the Christmas fair got cancelled. That way I haven't worked for nothing.

That is very true. Fortunately, my friends can appreciate hand-made gifts, be they cookies or Christmas ornaments.

The excitement builds in anticipation of your weekend efforts. How nice to give your ornaments as gifts in the absence of the fair - I’m sure they’ll be appreciated.

Oh, yes. My friends know that these things are unique, since I never make the same thing twice, and how much work I put into each and every one; and that way I'm virtually under everyone's Christmas tree. :)

Prep absolutely counts!

Especially as it is hard, time-consuming and boring manual labour. ;))

Do we call you the pied piper with all your Meeces?
Yay for a new garage roof and for organising and repurposing the hutch. Sounds like a successful day.

Oh, I'm sure they will follow you. Perhaps you won't even need a flute, assuming that you can whistle. ;)

Making good progress there!

The weather was absolutely gorgeous today - nothing like November at all. So I went out for a walk. I got a phone call to say my framing was complete so I went to collect it.

Now I’m going to undo the crocheting efforts of the last couple of days and go with another idea (and really really hope this one works).

I managed to make three more squares and sew three more pairs - so not too bad for an evening’s work.

I’m delighted with how all of the pieces look framed. It’s amazing the difference in the tapestry now. Just in case you want to see the finished article…

Walks in nice weather are the BEST!

Good luck with the crocheting project! You were right to go out, as long as the weather is nice.

Three rows on the blanket on both Tuesday & Wednesday. Six rows today. \o/ That's more like what I need to get it done on time.

I'm running out of yarn on it, so I went to JoAnn to pick up another skein. Happily, it was on sale 40% off. I also nabbed a pretty caked yarn (only $3.99!), which I'm now using for a crocheted hat that I am slowly working on whilst reading websites and waiting for dinner to be ready.

Sounds like you’re making excellent progress

40% off! Woohoo!! And what is caked yarn, please?
Friday, November 12th, 2021 04:32 am (UTC)
Yarn that is sold wound in a flat, fat cake rather than in a ball or skein. There's some popular brands at big box stores now that come this way, and usually have long color changes. The one I bought is called Freelance by Big Twist; if you scroll down on this page you can see examples of the yarn:

The yarn is a variegated with long color changes: reddish-purple, cream, and tan. It makes me think of raspberry cheesecake, YUM!

Isn't it nice to find things you need on sale? And congratulations to your progress!

No crafting today but I did a complete overhaul and tidy of my work room, so I'm remembering where I put the things I need for this weekend. (Tree decorating after the Auction.) Feeling very festive this year thanks to the snowflakes and angels that [personal profile] wiseheart has been making!

Enjoy your weekend

Awww, that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy in the inside! I wish I could send you some, but they wouldn't survive the long journey.
