Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Bit of a crap day. I spent a lot of it cleaning out the inside of the fire in the hope of lighting it tomorrow. It involves removing all the removable parts and scrubbing them with a wire brush. In the process I bashed one finger so the joint is bruised. Then I forgot to change into my good slippers, tripped on the way up the stairs, and scraped my arm. Luckily I didn't draw blood, but that's sore and bruised.

The shed was supposed to be finished today, and at least it has the windows in now, but why do men not read instructions? My friend took my carefully painted weather boards, the ones that are supposed to cover the joins between panels to keep the rain out, sawed them into pieces, and used them to edge the sides of the roof, which was totally unnecessary. Then the weather boards that are supposed to go on the inside to cover the gaps on the hinge edge of the doors, he used on two of the outside corners, where two of the slats he sawed up were supposed to go. Now he's got to buy more wood to replace what he's ruined, it won't be pressure treated as the rest of the shed is, and I'll have to paint them and let then dry before they can be put on.

Knitting wise, I've decided to leave the neck shaping as it is but add another 4 rows. It'll mean I don't end with a 12th row, but it'll be fine, With that in mind, I've unpicked the shoulder cast-offs on the back, done the extra rows and cast off again. Then I got my yarn all tangled so I spent the rest of my knitting time untangling it.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Oh dear, it really wasn't your day, was it! With helpers like this, you don't need vandals to destroy your property!

I can relate to the cleaning pain - scrubbed the oven door for more than an hour today.

It really wasn't. My lovely shed! I didn't think I needed to explain to my friend what all the pieces wrre for. This was a kit, all the pieces the right size to fit where they were supposed to go, and he saws them up! I might try contacting the shed people tomorrow to see if spare parts are available.

Ugh, that doesn't sound fun either. The fire took me about three hours altogether, and I haven't done my usual thorough job, which takes about three times as long, spread out over several days. This time I'm just saying it's good enough, because I can't handle any more of kneeling on the floor with my head and one arm jammed into the firebox trying to scrape the sides, back, and top clear of the gunk that builds up through burning smokeless fuel.

I'm not happy. I didn't think I needed to explain what the pieces were for, he had the instructions, and sectional sheds come with all the pieces you need, cut to the right size. There's no need to saw pieces! It took me an hour and a half to paint all the slats, all sides and both ends, and now he's wasted huge pieces. *grumbles* He could have asked me, but I suppose he thought a woman wouldn't know. >=[

I'll get there, now I know what I'm doing.

Frustration and pain! Sounds like a rotten day. Hope you recover from your injuries quickly. I also hope you come up with a good solution to the now missing pieces of the shed (missing? Repurposed? Not sure what the best way of putting that is)

Not one of my better days, certainly. The injuries are minor, just annoying, and one of them was my own fault for forgetting to change my slippers. I'll survive.

How about ruined? They were perfectly good before he mucked them up and screwed them where they didn't belong. Now I have a leaky shed with unnecessary bits tacked on =/ I just don't understand men. If there's a piece that you don't know where it fits, read the instructions! *sigh* I appreciate him taking his time to put the shed up, but if I ever need another putting up, I'll pay to have it done properly.
