Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

I've given the shed doors a coat of wood stain, but they'll need a second coat tomorrow because the smoother planks aren't absorbing the stain as well as the rougher planks of the walls, so they look a lighter colour. Got some more touching up to do around the doors as well, but I'm getting there. I might leave the second coat until next year, I'll have to do it annually anyway and if I do it late spring that should work out. I'll use up when I've got on the most exposed sides, doing a bit each day until it's all gone.

Also, I've finished the back of my sweater! I haven't cut the yarn though, I want to make sure I can finish the front before I do something so final!

Continuing with my tapestry again. Had the day off work as had an important consultant call today but it could happen anywhere in a four hour period so I sat for about two hours sewing this afternoon while I was waiting and then have done some more this evening. Have been looking at the two other unstarted tapestries and trying to decide which one to tackle first. Although part of me wants to support local small businesses, after how rude the staff in the craft shop were the other day, I will probably order the supplies online which will likely be cheaper as well. Might post pictures of the canvases tomorrow to get some opinions on which to pick 😊

Online shopping is often cheaper. It's a shame the staff at your local craft place proved so unpleasant.

It's a holiday here today and I'm working on a little Belle-Île cardigan for a friend's new baby. I finished the body a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't like the gauge I was getting and decided that I needed to go up a needle size and start over. The pattern is top-down and I'm hoping to divide for the sleeves by the end of today, but there is, admittedly, still quite a lot of knitting to do before I get there.

I'm also resolved to drive out to a new-to-me mall today to get the buttons for the cardigan, which is going to be a difficult task to make myself actually do!

That is adorably cute! I got started with knitting when my sister was expecting, and knitted so many baby clothes, they're such fun to make.

Good luck, I hope you're happier with your second attempt, and that you get to the mall for buttons. Getting the buttons right is so important. I have a cardigan made years ago that still doesn't have buttons because I've never found any that look right.

Yes, I find baby clothes very fun to knit! They knit up so fast, and fit doesn't matter too much, because the baby is going to be that size at some point, briefly! Or at least that's what I tell myself...

I did get the buttons! The ones I was thinking of didn't come in the size I thought they did, so I got some of the ones I wanted (15mm) and an alternative at the size the pattern calls for (18mm). I'll see which ones look best, but I hope it's the 15mm ones!

Exactly! I kept making them after my sister didn't need any more, and sold them to friends, and then I was knitting for a baby shop for a while. I've still got a ton of finished items, and hundreds of patterns.

Yay for buttons! Maybe you could make the buttonholes a bit smaller so you can use the smaller buttons without them slipping out.

Yes, agreed! And as a bonus, they're quick to knit, which is extremely satisfying!
