Check-In Post October 4th 2021
Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Anyway, I warmed myself a bit with some knitting, got another 12 rows done on the sweater front. I've done 9 pattern repeats, should have enough yarn in this ball for another one and a half, almost. Then I'll have one ball left to complete the back and the front...

Good, steady progress with your project.

Hope there won't be too much unpicking involved.

I finally learned how to knit the brioche rib. I found a nice pattern for a basic beanie hat specifically designed for beginners to learn and get used to it and it looks great (if not perfect, I've definitely had to go back and fix purl stitches that I accidentally knit and yarn overs that didn't get picked up).
I've been using a leftover yarn for my contrasting color, though, and I'm definitely not going to have enough of it to make it as long as the pattern wants it to be with a pretty wide flipped up brim. I'm just hoping that it's long enough to have some brim.

Congratulations on learning a new stitch! It should be a very cosy hat, and I hope you do end up with a decent brim. Yarn can be deceptive, sometimes it goes a lot further than you think it will.

Monday
Now I must ponder over what's next....hmm....

That was a close run race, glad you had enough yarn. I'm currently playing yarn chicken with my sweater, hoping I can finish the back and the front to a decent length with my last ball of yarn. I've been worried since I started this one that I might not have enough...

Small crisis. Here's a sneak peek at the Love Your Bookshop Day packs to accompany all books sold. The idea is that it is a bit of a giggle- and something completely not what people expect (hence the bag to hide the goodies.) So- onion (to inflame passions), garlic (just rechecked and garlic is NOT one of the things I needed and now I need to remove it and replace it with something else), nasturtium seeds (nasturtiums are good for coitus and sperm production) and beeswax candles. Damn. Now I have to redo the packs and rephotograph everything. In other news, I now have a lifetime supply of garlic. I might just plant the bulbs for the flowers. I've got 3 days and a tight budget and I want something fruity or something. hmmm

The bags look great fun!
