Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Arm-warmer knitting days sounds perfectly reasonable - I find that too - rib or stocking stitch is okay for watching television, anything else is doomed to failure.
Saturday, September 25th, 2021 10:26 pm (UTC)
Which is why I can only do any crafting by background telly. If it's DVDs, one needs to pay attention - not very practical. Congrats to your steady progress!

That wouldn't work for me, I am afraid. I need the English subtitles to follow the spoken English in my shows. ;)

Flatterer! *g* You should have seen the grief I got for my grammar from readers of my stuff!
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 01:30 am (UTC)
Well done on both fronts! It's nice to sew in front of TV, though I like to dip into my DVD stash, as long as it's one I've watched many times, so I don't get distracted!

Apart from knitting a bit of mini hobbit's cardigan and a couple of rows of the next square of my throw, I finally finished the elephant:

Saturday, September 25th, 2021 10:57 pm (UTC)
The poor thing has been waiting for ages to be finished!
Saturday, September 25th, 2021 10:15 pm (UTC)
That looks really nice!
Saturday, September 25th, 2021 10:57 pm (UTC)
Thank you very much.

Oh my, this is simply adorable!

Thank you very much.

awwww that's pretty cute!

Thank you very much.

I tried to make a five-pointed star from some spoon-shaped lolly sticks, but it turned out horribly clumsy. Clearly, that sort of sticks just aren't good for stars. So I dismantled the clumsy object and used 3 of the 5 sticks to make a snowflake. A pale green one with gold-yellow crystal stickers, which sounds ridiculous, but it looks actually very pretty.
Saturday, September 25th, 2021 10:59 pm (UTC)
I look forward to seeing pics. Will you make more snowflakes?
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 09:24 am (UTC)
Oh yes, definitely! I've got lots of those spoon-shaped lolly sticks in various colours, plus several sheets of crystal stickers in my stock - plus snowflakes are made in 15 minutes, tops, so there's instant gratification. ;)
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 09:24 am (UTC)
True. I'm giving the lolly sticks you gave me a try next.
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 04:00 pm (UTC)
Well, I made two stars, a five-pointed one and a six-pointed one from those. I also made another snowflake from the other sort of sticks and another angel. So I'm fairly pleased.
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 07:21 pm (UTC)
Honestly, that was the best part of my entire day.

I'm a fan of anything shiny.
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 09:25 am (UTC)
Shiny can be sooo pretty!

Sunday lunchtime here. I've devoured nachoes, watered the garden (something is attacking my borage!) and am ready to get back to finishing up the text for the braille copy of my book. I'm at Chapter 8 so I thought be able to edit the rest AND find time for some sewing. Haven't decided sleeves or roses curtains. Sleeves will be quicker and finish a job off. Probably no more than a week's work left on them by the time I go to work and do life as well.
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 07:54 am (UTC)
Enjoy whichever you decide on!
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 09:26 am (UTC)
Finishing one job is always satisfying. It gives you strength to attack the next one.

One row on the graduation blanket. I did some more math and figured out that I am 70% done with it. This pleases me.

Two small motifs done on my peppermint afghan. I'm not sure I linked that here before, so here it is again: Peppermint Throw on Yarnspirations. I have concluded that if I do two small motifs a day the rest of this month, I'll be done with the small motifs. Then the goal is to do one large motif a day. That should get me done in plenty of time before Christmas, which is my ultimate goal. The blanket is for ME, so really there's no rush but I'd like it done this year so I can enjoy it.
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 07:57 am (UTC)
There's something very satisfying knowing that there's less than a third less to do.

That's a great blanket.
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 11:18 am (UTC)
70% is really great! It would be great if it was finished for Xmas as a nicectreat to yourself!

I finished plying the yarn so it needs a wash and snap next. Someone got interested in the wheel and I let him investigate. I’m very proud of not freaking out, I’m not the world’s most relaxed parent. (He also sat on my lap and tried to pedal with me, and hold the plies.) The Enting wants me to make him a waistcoat with it, but I’ll need to check on the final yardage before I commit XD

Oh, I also made a little puppet with the Enting—felt and googly eyes and pipe cleaner and pom poms. Despite being really crafty myself I don’t really do much in the way of crafts with him (see: not very relaxed parent). But it was fun.

In the evening, I did more cross stitch on the mushroom dragon.

Hooray for doing lots of craft. Enting looks like he's enjoying himself.
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 09:28 am (UTC)
What a dedicated lifttel craftsman! Who knows, he míg hat have found his calling at a tender age. :)
Sunday, September 26th, 2021 11:20 am (UTC)
That's brilliant on both fronts! Craft and small kids is hard. I'm only relaxed about it because I have great stain-removing skills. Haha! It's nice Enting is interested and the felt with googly eyes sounds pretty cute!

I think for me it’s helpful that I’ve made so many yarns over the years that I’m not particularly precious about it anymore. I can fix most problems, and honestly even if it was irreparable, I can just spin more :P
