Check-In Post September 24th 2021
Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Also finished sleeve two, but the last bit of yarn was abominable. 12 rows and the cast off row, and three joins! The last two were on the cast off row so I just kept going. The joins will be on the seam anyway.

I've never had a ball of yarn this bad. I can see at least one more join, but this is the ball of yarn I'll be using for the neckband so hopefully I can manage. I'm going to wind this bit into balls, just so I won't get anymore unexpected joins popping up as I knit.

Thanks, I'm proud of achieving shed purchase. Those things aren't cheap!

It's sort of inevitable that there'll be an occasional join because if you've got 5 100g balls of the same dye lot, how long a strand could the manufacturer have made without a break in it? Finding a bunch in the same ball is tremendously annoying though.

I also worked a tiny bit with the lolly sticks, making one Christmas tree and adding more decoration to my lonely snowflake.

I'm sure your lonely lolly stick snowflake won't stay lonely for too much longer!

Dabbling here and there. A few cards in the last couple of days after a mini hiatus of lacking inspiration. Trying also to bake something each weekend. This weekend it was dark choc banana loaf and last weekend lemon butter and a lemon slice (lemons have come into abundance on our tree after years of gawl wasp infestation).
Mainly working on my baby cross stitch, maybe three quarters of the main design done, but turns out that all the white segments are just blank, not actually white stitching, so I think once it's done I'll go back and fill in the white with real stitches to make it look less cheap and shortcutty (I hate blank areas, it just feels wrong). I've got some leftover white thread but can always order more. White is one colour easy to buy at least.
Hope everyone else is doing okay!

Sounds like you're getting a lot done on various projects. I like the sound of the lemon slice, but like Tosh, I'm allergic to bananas.
The cross stitch is going great. I know what you mean about the blank areas in a design, Makes it look unfinished somehow. It's fine if it's the background, but when it's part of the design...

The Mr is really sensory sensitive* and gets distracted by unrelated sounds. Drives me a bit crazy because I’m a multitasker—especially while watching TV—but I have other quieter crafts I can do ^_^
(*True story: he was complaining to me and some guest recently about how even with his heavy duty work gloves on some things still poked him and he found it uncomfortable and he was like “doesn’t anyone else find this a problem?” and I looked him dead in the eye and said “Almost all of my hobbies involve use of needles.”)
