Check-In Post September 24th 2021

Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Big success in ordering the new shed. How frustrating to have so many joins in the yarn.

On the seam or not, they must be annoying. Good for you to make so much progress nevertheless - and yay for having ordered the shed!

That's fantastic about the new shed! Woohoo! Super annoying about the joins in the wool. I remember the days of not really finding any but perhaps I just didn't notice, since I don't knot and I'm usually using wool for other things.

The mini-mittens, as promised:

I also worked a tiny bit with the lolly sticks, making one Christmas tree and adding more decoration to my lonely snowflake.

It has gained a sibling today.

*waves* Due for a check in I must be! Still locked down and still waiting for my first vaccine appointment, so meh.

Dabbling here and there. A few cards in the last couple of days after a mini hiatus of lacking inspiration. Trying also to bake something each weekend. This weekend it was dark choc banana loaf and last weekend lemon butter and a lemon slice (lemons have come into abundance on our tree after years of gawl wasp infestation).
Mainly working on my baby cross stitch, maybe three quarters of the main design done, but turns out that all the white segments are just blank, not actually white stitching, so I think once it's done I'll go back and fill in the white with real stitches to make it look less cheap and shortcutty (I hate blank areas, it just feels wrong). I've got some leftover white thread but can always order more. White is one colour easy to buy at least.

Hope everyone else is doing okay!

Good to hear that your lemon tree is doing so well! I had a problem with gall wasps too and had to do a massive cut back. The dark choc banana loaf sounds divine!

Well, the sleeves aren't done and I did actually get out the roses badhangings, but I'm remembering what a bit job it is. I did a blog post about them because I've found that if I post up about something on social media, I feel morally obliged to myself to actually work on it. wahahaha

It really, really is. I guess I started it a year before Covid, or maybe the year before that? I could have painted them like the lest one I made, but I wanted to kick it up a notch. I hope to be using it next July at the latest, so I have to get on with it!

Finished the second bobbin, wanted to go on and ply the yarn together but Mr wanted to watch a movie* and I knew the sound of the spinning wheel would bother him so I finished knitting another washcloth instead.

Maybe this weekend!

I find the sound of a spinning wheel soothing, but at least you got other things done!

The Mr is really sensory sensitive* and gets distracted by unrelated sounds. Drives me a bit crazy because I’m a multitasker—especially while watching TV—but I have other quieter crafts I can do ^_^

(*True story: he was complaining to me and some guest recently about how even with his heavy duty work gloves on some things still poked him and he found it uncomfortable and he was like “doesn’t anyone else find this a problem?” and I looked him dead in the eye and said “Almost all of my hobbies involve use of needles.”)
