Check-In Post September 15th 2021

Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Well done on the knitting and the trip. Exciting getting new supplies - do you already know the projects you need them for?

I had a crafty day... more or less. Firstly, I managed to find a piece of felt that matched the colour of a half-finished Santa's sock from, oh, I think two years ago. So I promptly finished it. Then I made my very first mini felt mitten - a piece of Christmas tree decoration, actually. I had the bases for 25 mittens cut out yesterday, so 24 more to go. Fortunately, I've got 3 months until Christmas, so it should be doable parallel to the popsickle project... if I ever get around to start that one!

Yeah, now all I need is some undisturbed time for the latter. Sewing is easy, you can put everything into a plastic bag and work on it while watching telly with half an eye, but the lolly stick things need time (to prepare), room for all the tools and embellishments and then time again to put all those back to where they belong. Sometimes a big working table in an obscure corner would be nice.

Fun times! Sounds like you were very prepared in getting so much cut out all at once.

I made a paper template, used a felt-tipped pen to draw the outline (50times) and then cut them out with a pair of scissors.

Still searching for my mojo. It has poked its head up a few times in recent days -- I got two rows done on the graduation blanket, did some swatching for my niece's blanket, and worked on a crocheted hat - but haven't finished anything, or worked very hard. That's okay, I'm sure my mojo will come back eventually.

Though I did add to my pattern stash today. It was my birthday, and between that and some stress in my life recently, I wanted to do something nice for myself. I've been searching sweater patterns, thinking I'd knit myself a sweater, but to be honest I don't wear the crocheted sweaters/knitted cardigan I have already made very often, so decided against it.

What I really could use, though, is a jacket or coat for spring/fall weather. So I did another search on Ravelry, but nothing in the plus sized patterns screamed "MAKE ME!". I tried another search without the plus sized option, because I know some patterns aren't tagged correctly, and what should pop up but a pattern I had in my favorites that when I saw again, I went "ooooooooooooh!!!!"

That pattern is this: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sashiko-happy-coat

Amusingly enough (to me, anyway) it's crocheted, not knitted. I seem to be drawn to crocheted clothing. I priced the yarn last week and it's way out of my budget at this time, but decided to buy the pattern for my birthday anyway just so I had it. Because you never know when patterns might disappear. I'm hoping with money I get for Christmas I might be able to afford the yarn to make this.

I did a little work on Eeyore again but that was all I managed.
