Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

The neckband is finished! I always forget how fiddly it is folding one over and slipstitching the cast-off edge into place, trying to match up stitches and not pull tight. It has to have plenty of give otherwise it won't go over your head. Anyway, it's finished and looks good.

I've also marked the body for where the sleeves are to fit, so tomorrow I'll hopefully be attaching them...

Yes, I can remember having to redo the stitching on a neckband for that very reason! Glad you've got it done and are pleased with it.

So have I. It's a hassle to have to undo once it's done. I checked every inch or so to make sure it was okay. I'm still glad I've done this neckband this way, despite the fiddling. It gives a softer finish somehow.

Not so much complicated as just fiddly and time-consuming. Still, it looks good and that's what matters.

I managed about half of the back of Mickey's head and more of the floor today. All being well I'm off blackberry picking tomorrow but hope to get all my commitments done in time to spend some more time on one of the projects.

Enjoy your berry picking, but mind the thorns. I'm still battling the brambles in my garden, they're vicious.

Dabbled a little with my cross stitch. This one was dolphins and colourful reef. Not really correct to call it cross stitch since almost all the stitches are actually half stitch except for the central dolphins, but does mean I make progress twice as fast.
My other baby name kit was supposed to arrive in the next few days but sadly it's been posted to my work address. Had I known we'd be locked down at home for weeks (or maybe months the way things are going) I don't know when I'll be able to go back to the office to collect it. Sigh.
Otherwise, lockdown is just making me restless and not really up for anything for more than half an hour.

It sounds lovely, and the half stitch background will make the dolphins really stand out.

Oh, that sucks! I hope it won't be too long before you can go and get it.

Lockdowns are tough for people used to going out and about *hugs* Maybe it won't be a long one this time *fingers crossed*

The semi-cross stitch sounds lovely, and at least gives you something to concentrate on during lockdown. I hope you manage to retrieve your other kit soonish.

Lockdown is not easy. I'm a person who likes sitting at home, puttering around, but when I know that I *can't* go anywhere, it gives me the cabin fever, too.

Dolphins sound lovely. I hope there will be pictures when you're finished. ;))

I have a weirdness: I seem to have forgotten how to knit with DK yarn. Well, that's not really true, as I have a lap blanket in progress that is DK, but I'm talking about shawlettes/scarves.

I have a lovely, vivid ball of slightly variegated orange DK, but I can't seem to find the right project for it. I've tried two already, one asymmetric shawl, one scarf featuring a leaf pattern, and somehow, both are WRONG. Wah! I want to knit something with this lovely colour, but I just don't seem to be finding it.

I really hate when that happens. You want something that will show the loveliness off the yarn off perfectly, but finding the right project for it can be a nightmare. I've got some white yarn with pink and grey flecks that I have no idea what to make with. I've been looking for a suitable design for over 20 years.

Try looking at the yarn and imagining what it would look really good as. Maybe it wants to be a hat, or a top, or one of those wide scarves that are more like a wrap.

I hope you find a pattern you like soon - if it's variegated then I'm guessing you're looking for a fairly plain pattern so as to show off the slight differences.

Sorry for the absence. We're still in survival mode due to the building insulation. There are lots of noise and dust and stuff, and the weather is fairly hot, too - not the best circumstances for being crafty. But I've cleared out the wardrobe and selected a few pieces of clothing that can be cut up for making potholders and the likes. Plus I saved a handful of really pretty buttons. So, the time hasn't been entirely wasted, after all.

Sorting stuff out is always good, and clearing unwanted clutter will help. I'm all for recycling fabric and buttons.

I hope the upheaval won't be lasting too much longer.
