Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Decisions, decisions! That's always the way - if you want to have a lacy pattern it's the cable ones which appeal.

Ooh tricky decisions ahead. Good luck on finding the perfect pattern.

Sometimes having lots to choose from makes those decisions harder.

The Germans have a saying about this: who's got a choice has got the pain. Of course, in German it sounds better: "Wer die Wahl hat hat die Qual". *g*

Dark red is such a nice colour. Anything you make from it will be pretty!

I've been inspired as to the next part of the second coaster, which is good. And I'm working on the pattern for the square for my throw, which is another where it would be easy to lose track of where I'm at. I'm colouring in each row as I knit it, having decided I probably won't be repeating these squares.

I've also sorted out a new home for my cross stitch materials since I shall need the space they were in for the wool for granddaughter's cardigan, since I've ordered rainbow colours, plus unicorn colours. I've also ordered a couple of magazines (special editions), one cross stitch, one multiple crafts, which will give me more ideas for things I can do once I've finished all the things I'm currently doing ...

Great to hear that you’re feeling inspired for your coaster and progressing with your throw.

Ah, the continuing trials of storing the right projects in the right places!
Saturday, August 14th, 2021 10:27 pm (UTC)
Thank you. I'm acquiring more and more craft materials. Which is good but demands space!

Not sure about the organised, more a case of needing to find the space and having sudden inspiration as to what I could do.

Yes, this is one chart for a square, so it's easy.

Wow, you've been busy!
Sunday, August 15th, 2021 04:21 pm (UTC)
There were a few things which needed doing, so it was good to actually get on and do them!
Tuesday, August 17th, 2021 07:42 am (UTC)
It's always nice to tidy and find homes for things! The new wool and magazines will be great too!
Tuesday, August 17th, 2021 07:56 am (UTC)
I needed to tidy so I have room for when the new wool arrives. The magazines will no doubt give me ideas for more things I don't have the time for!

I’ve finished four full squares of crochet today, for two of them I’d already done the inner square but the other two I had to do both inner and outer colours. So far I’ve got 14 finished squares - 2 each of 7 kinds.

I’m going to work on the cross-stitch for a while now to round out my day.

It all sounds like great progress.

I was pleased. I finished the bucket of water and associated splashes for the second broom and did a bit more work on the floor tiles. So both brooms are finished. Mickey Mouse is next up.

Thank you. I hope to get more of both done today (after chores and hopefully a walk!). The good thing about the squares was I got a good chunk of an audio book listened to at the same time. It's a long one so I've been putting it off as I need a bit more concentration than I'd been putting into it when I first tried listening to it, but crocheting is perfect - enough brain power for listening to the story and for creating squares. Seems like a win to me!

Well done completing all those squares.
Sunday, August 15th, 2021 03:28 pm (UTC)
Impressive!
Tuesday, August 17th, 2021 07:44 am (UTC)
Progress! How many squares do you need all up?

Just a little crafting this weekend (still in lockdown, which meant another diy haircut as well, after resisting for months).
I think I made two or three mini cards, but mostly was just pulling out some rubber stamps and pressing them out in different inks so I have a stock of stamped images for cards to use later. I spent more time scrubbing them clean each time than I did actual crafting.
Also made a carrot cake and Spanish chicken and rice so reasonably productive.
Sunday, August 15th, 2021 03:29 pm (UTC)
I've never worked with stamps. Is it difficult?
Tuesday, August 17th, 2021 07:46 am (UTC)
Carrot cake may be my favourite cake! I love the smell of baked goods in the oven! And now you have cake as a teeat to go with all your crafting.

Building renovation is still going on. We're still living on a heap of unholy mess. Creative juices are still dried up and will likely stay that way until this ordeal is over. It's good to see that others are more active, though. It gives me hope.
