Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I didn't do anything for the last few days, as we were away. I took some knitting with me, but we were out doing things during the day so by the evening after we'd eaten I was tired. But now I've ordered the wool for granddaughter's cardigan for Christmas, made a bit of progress on some of my projects and started granddaughter's scarf - which is plain double rib, and since she's only four not very wide.

Yes, thank you, it was good to have a few days away.

HOpe you did some exciting things while you were away. Good luck with the cardigan for your granddaughter.

Nothing particularly exciting but it was enjoyable wandering around new places. And thank you.

A scarf sounds cute! the holiday away would have been nice!

It's a very basic double rib scarf in the same wool as her hat. Having a few days away was lovely.

An outside square and two insides were crocheted and then I worked some more on the cross-stitch.

Sounds good.

Went back through my case of unfinished cross stitches and found two that are only a quarter done (even if the designs don't thrill me so much anymore, it'll give me something to do until I find one I like to buy online). Sigh. Another year of no craft shows to attend where I could trawl through hundreds of kits to find some I adore.
Also discovered that my white tiger in the snow cross stitch wasn't actually finished. Only a little bit of back stitch, but it was the hundreds of french knots I hadn't done. Meep. I think I must have done 50 last night and still stacks to go, though it does look more snowy with them in it, I must admit.
Once it's done I can take a picture, along with my seashells one.

It's important just to have something to do. I'm shuddering at the thought of all those French knots!

And I know how much you despair at them!

I look forward to seeing the finished cross stitches. With that many french knots to do, you have my sincere wishes that you are much better at them than I am when I need to add them! Good luck on getting the others done.

I think I finally stitched them all! So hard to find them all on the pattern. Just a few bits of backstitch to go.

Sounds like you're getting quite a bit done! 50 french knots! Goodness!

I haven't checked in lately, but I have been busy! I've done more sewing on the inside seams of the blue wool gowne, but in the meantime, I machine sewed 5 silk blend curtains for my bedroom and washed them so they're ready to hang. I wanted the silk for other things, but when it arrived, the tag had "/rayon blend" added by hand after the words 100% silk, so I had no use for it. I didn't want to send it back as postage is expensive for fabric, so now I have 5 drops of 2.4 metre curtains in white was-supposed-to-be-silk.

I've patterned and cut the lining and brocade for a friend's re-enactment jacket- a Polish Kontusz which was fiddley as he didn't fit the paper pattern

The most exciting thing for me at the moment, is that yesterday I picked up a second hand rocking horse to repaint and refurbish. It's not the curved rockers type, but the rocking mechanism on a base type. The original paintwork was pretty ordinary, so a complete overhaul is in order. It's not an antique, so painting it and redoing all of it won't be ruining an original special thing.

Working on the rocking horse sounds like fun!
