Check-In Post August 10th 2021

Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I’m seriously contemplating asking you to make me up a few things out of my yarn with the speed you’re working at 😁 You’ll be finished before you know it!

And then you can open a small clothes shop for knitted goodies. *g*

I have finished one broom and his buckets of water (and associated splashes). I will still need to do the outlining but that will get done later. I think there is probably enough time for me to do a little more in order to complete the other broom (but not the bucket of water it’s carrying).

Seven rows on the blanket, woohoo!

Also, a totally unexpected project: I was taking a break from knitting by browsing threads on Ravelry, as one does, and I found a thread where someone was asking for a crochet mandala pattern that looks like a floor of a dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV, which happens to be the MMORPG I'm obsessed with. Since I am a designer myself, I couldn't help but think, "...challenge accepted." So I've been playing with that today, too. It's going to be HUGE when done, and to be honest I'd love to do more tonight because I want to get to the fun part (it starts out with a plain circle, so right now it's boring) but my body says NO. Wrist/shoulder needs a break. But I've done what, 13 rounds so far on it? Yeah.

Getting to the fun part is important, but you must listen to wrist and shoulder. Or else there would be no fun at all.
That said, you've made terrific progress. Congratulations!

I have been so terribly absent (again!), though I have done a little crafting here and there. A couple of very simple generic cards, and I also finished my seashells cross stitch. I'm looking for new kits but not much is exciting me because I'm so picky about what I want to spend months stitching.
I do have one that's in the maybe pile (though it's mostly black-stitch which I've never done before), and another I'm waiting to buy online for a friend who is having a baby girl at the end of the year.

Yes, I'm a bit over the house organising. With all the rolling lockdowns we've been having all I can do is browse the internet which isn't great for buying furnishings. I want to see and feel, so it's all a little frustrating. I've looked at every online store a dozen times. All I can do is gather ideas for a preferred style, but all that could change if I saw something in a store that looked nice. I suspect it's going to take a long time if we can't go to shops.
