Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

It looks a bit narrow, but that's mostly because of the stitch used. It's really quite stretchy and should be fine.

Hoping it's okay for me to join you all. I've been following posts for a week or two but decided to join in the fun properly - if you'll all have me.
I'm on a 'mission' at the moment to finish a bunch of projects that have been partially done for a 'while' - I'll be vague about the while because with some of the projects I really have no idea when I started them or who for. With that in mind, I also don't know what I'll do with half of them when they do get finished because I'm pretty sure that whoever they were started for will probably be too old for them or have moved on and I'll no longer be in touch with them.
This week, I've been focusing on a cross-stitch of Peter Pan, Wendy, John, Michael and Tinkerbell flying past Big Ben. The end is in sight - depending on how many evenings I can spend on it, maybe a week or two. I'm really not enjoying - too many half stitches, sewing on dark midnight blue aida which is very difficult to find the holes and then the black outline doesn't show up because of said midnight blue background. I'll be glad to finish this one, and just hope it doesn't look as bad as I fear.

I'm sure smallhobbit with sympathise with the the struggle of stitching on dark aida, since one of her not-so-long-ago projects was also stitched on dark blue. I cross stitch myself, but so far I've stuck to lighter colours. It can't be easy finding the holes, but I hope the finished result proves worth the effort. It sounds like a lovely design.
Finishing projects that have been hanging around for a long time is particularly satisfying. With luck you'll find suitable recipients for them all.

I don't think I will choose any projects on dark material in future (unless it's one I've already got in the pile waiting to be done!). I'm getting more than expected done tonight as I started earlier than usual and neighbours are having a party so won't get to sleep for a while yet. :)
I did a bit of organising and was a bit horrified to find out how many cross stitch patterns I had waiting to be done, which when combined with the rather large pile of wool waiting to be used up. I decided I needed to take action and begin to make a dent. I finished crocheting a circular blanket a little while ago and then started on a set of squares to make another one before taking a break. The plan is to finish this and then possibly go back to the squares for the second blanket - or maybe do some of those and then work on another cross stitch.

Ah, noisy parties - the perfect excuse to stay up late and do crafting *grins*
It can be a bit of a shock to see what's been started and not finished. I thought I had three unfinished knitting projects, turned out there were 6. One is now finished, another almost done, a third I'm going to unpick and use the yarn for a different pattern as there was no way it was going to fit. I'm tiny, but it was ridiculous. Two of the others are black and I've forgotten where I got to on the patterns, the other I'm making up as I go and as it's stocking stitch it's reserved for when Strictly Come Dancing returns. In the meantime I'm knitting other sweaters since at a glance I have enough yarn for at least another 13. *headdesk*
Alternating projects is a good way of keeping enthusiasm up. If you're not in the mood for one project it's good to have something else you can work on.
I hope you'll post pictures when you have something to show off!

I will need to work out how to post pictures - the site I used to use for storage for things I wanted online has closed down. I will figure it out and share once I do.

I'm not as fast as I used to be, but 40 years of practice has its benefits. Also, I really wanted to get the previous sweater done. The pattern was just a nightmare, so badly written as to be almost incomprehensible. I figured I should work fast while I could still remember what I was doing. I'm having a better time with my current project, except for when I mess up the pattern and have to undo a few rows.
If you go to the home section of your dreamwidth and select Upload Images from the Create menu, you should be able to post uploaded images from your computer using either an image embed or a thumbnail embed. One of the members here was kind enough to explain it to me so I could do it. I'm rather a technical dunce.
