Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Phew, another 32 rows on the turquoise sweater. It's actually a 40 row pattern repeat, working rows 3 to 42, so I have to remember now to knock off two rows when I calculate how many I've knitted. The first two pattern rows are only done once. Anyway, it's growing fast, already 9.5 inches!

I have to look at the chart at the start of each right side row, and I got a bit confused at one point, leading to me unpicking a row when I didn't need to, but I think I'm maybe starting to get the hang of the pattern.

Got a good 2.5 hours in the garden today clearing ivy and chatting with my neighbour's chickens through the hedge. They're quite sociable and seem very interested in what I'm doing. They can't get through into my garden, my neighbour has wire mesh on her side because of her dogs and the chickens.

I'm glad the neighbour's chickens are so interested in your gardening - do they egg you on?

*groans at pun* Mostly they cluck quietly or burble, and stare. There are only two so the staring isn't too intimidating. They're quite good company.

I decided to start a kit I was given for my birthday to stitch your own coasters. It uses wool on a plastic-like grid, so not really my prefered medium. Plus the pattern repeats all the way, rather than having much variety. And it's shades of black, grey and cream. I can see myself going freestyle instead. And maybe introducing other wool...

You can let your imagination loose, make your own completely unique coasters instead of following the pattern, maybe use up some wool oddments. Do whatever strikes your fancy!

That was the decision I was rapidly coming to - far more fun that way!

I've selected papers for a baby book tha's due in November. A very dear ex-colleague of mine is about to become a grandmother for the second time and I want to make her a little gift.

I've just finished the basic cover (without any of the embellishment) and am quite pleased with it. Which is a good thing because it inspires me to continue.

I often make baby books for friends and family. They always politely pretend to like the product. ;))
