Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Anyway, I have added another 28 rows. Had a bit of trouble getting going, the stitch pattern is quite tricky, no plain, easy purl rows, but I think I'm starting to get to grips with the basics, although I doubt that I'll be able to manage it without frequently referring to the chart.
Still haven't photographed the fuchsia sweater, I wanted time out in the garden since the rain is set to return shortly. There's been so little dry weather this summer I need to get outside and clear what I can whenever the rain stops.

Today was rather busy so I didn't get to do as much as hoped, but I did start my Rosenmalva, a crocheted summer v-neck tee. I started with a D hook, as my swatch told me I got gauge with that. Six rows in, I remarked to myself, "This is looking awfully wide". Measured, and it was 30". Now, I'm fat, and this top does have 4-6 inches of positive ease built in, but the size I was doing is supposed to be 55.25" circumference, so about 27" for the front. So I checked my gauge on the piece and sure enough, it was off -- I was supposed to have 18 stitches in 4", and I had only 16".
So I started over with a second ball of yarn, and a C hook. Five rows in, and it's 26". Hmm. My gauge might be too tight now. The hooks are different materials and have different grips, so that could really explain why my gauge changed a lot. Anyway, I'm sleeping on it, but my tentative plan right now is to continue with the C hook and just have less positive ease, hoping it will fit okay.
So I did about 11 rows total today at 117 stitches per row. Which isn't bad at all given how busy I was. It's unfortunate six of those rows will be frogged eventually but better I figured out now it was going wrong than when I was almost done with the piece.

Ugh, so frustrating when the gauge is so far off. Hopefully the smaller size will give you a comfortable fit. It's no fun having to frog an almost complete project, all that time wasted with nothing tp show for it. (I have the front and two sleeves of a sweater to undo because it's just never going to fit me).
