Hello, lovely crafters! Welcome to our daily check-in post, where you can tell everybody all about your most recent progress (or lack thereof). Feel free to also chat with other members and generally enjoy yourself!

Check-in is not compulsory, you decide if and when to take part in these posts.

Today's optional question:
Did you ever make something fandom inspired? Whatever it was recreating a garment from a movie, or simply crafting something that made you think of a particular character, any anything in between?

If you have questions or suggestions about the community, requests for tags, or want to host the daily check-in posts, head over to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment there.

Yes! I have made a Doctor Who charm bracelet, and have been working on a Monkees charm bracelet for a couple of years.

I bet they're both really cool!

Very, especially the DW one. I still need some charms for the Monkees one, but it's coming along bit by bit.

It's a case of finding appropriate charms, which can't be easy.

Oh my gosh, I would love to see.pics of these, esp. the Monkees one!

I did! I designed and cross stitched a tribute to Torchwood's Ianto Jones to go mon his shrine in Cardiff. A friend took it there for me and put it up. Then someone stole it =(

https://badly-knitted.livejournal.com/111714.html

One day I'll stitch it again for myself.

Got some more knitting done on my arm warmers / fingerless mitts. They're both at 100 rows now, so I can see how much yarn I have left. Hoping to do at least another 10 rows on each. Then just stitch the seam leaving a gap for my thumb. If they work I'll make more. I'm still without heat except for my little fan heater. It doesn't help much with the whole house so cold.

That's so cool! What a shame that someone went and stole it, but they must have really liked it.

I guess it could be seen as a compliment of sorts... My friend kindly put up a printed out picture of it in the real thing's place the next time she visited Cardiff.

Oh that's lovely! What a shame it got stolen tho.

I was very annoyed, I'd put a lot of work into it and sealed it carefully in plastic to preserve it against the elements.

Glad you like it!

I started making beanies because of Eerie Indiana - there are jackalopes referenced in-canon and a three-headed dog in fanon, and I wanted to make all of them! Later I made another Eerie Indiana fanon beastie, the curl-toed binsnarfer.

More recently, I made a turtle-duck and lion-turtle from the
Legend of Aang, and six of the kaiju from one of my favourite movies, Pacific Rim. I'm especially proud of Otachi and Slattern, but since they're also my favourites in the film itself, I'm probably biased.

You do get a lot of inspiration from TV and movies!

I once made a Jayne hat from Firefly (pattern here)

I have a long term Monster Hunter afghan WIP for my husband. Going to work on this after holiday crafting.

Speaking of which, started a headband finally, the Thanksgiving holiday delayed me despite not going anywhere. All my energy went to cooking and cleaning up after cooking for days.

Omfg that Afghan is AMAZING!!

It's my goal to finish it after the first of the year, so you'll all get to see it again!

I loved Jayne's hat, it was so unlikely for his character, but his mom made it so he loved it.

The afghan is awesome!

When a man walks down the street in a hat like that, you know he's not afraid of nothing.

Or similar. I'm off a bit.

Jayne was certainly fearless *grins*

I need to rewatch Firefly.
