Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Sounds like a reasonable compliment, seeing how much work you have with the whole thing.

This is sounding more and more complicated!

I did a little mosaic [from a kit] and a 300-piece puzzle [The Hound of the Baskervilles] while the boys were at camp. And my younger son and I finished the paper mache Death Star with tiny Millennium Falcon.

Trying to stave off boredom!

Thank you!

Yeah, it's okay. I think it might've been more work than it's worth, but, hey, it's summer and it kept us busy.

I like that mosaic.

Thank you! This is the kit that Minisculus refused to make me for Mother's Day. Minor did a bee one in the same line and that has (ahem) disappeared. BUT I have much more sympathy for Minor now having done one myself. The concrete in which the tiles are fit isn't easy to manipulate at all.

I finished my test of the other design I made:

Meeple Square Test

It's a meeple, which is a board game token (specifically, from Carcassonne). I was too lazy to weave in ends, and it doesn't matter anyway since this is just a test and not being used for anything, not even for points in my crafting tournament.

Speaking about the crafting tournament: I also sent a private message to one of the organizers asking if they were going to make a Ravellenics team. The Ravellenic Games are another crafting challenge, coinciding with the Olympics. I definitely plan to take part, and it would be fun to participate with a team. I told the organizers if they don't want to make a team themselves, I'd make one and captain it with their permission.

Otherwise, nothing else from me today. I failed to take some medication last night and today I feel run-down so I've been asleep most of the day, sigh.

What is Ravellentics, please? Obviously some kind of crafting thing, but what? It's a team craft?

It's a crafting challenge on Ravelry, coinciding with the Olympics. You *can* join a team but they accept individual players as well. The goal is to challenge yourself to complete item(s) while the Olympics are on, and there's all sorts of events like Shawl Sailing, Scarf Hockey, Toy Toss, etc, so you choose whatever event you feel comfortable doing. It's fun. If you're on Ravelry, here's the link to the group:

Painting some little bentwood boxes and sewing todays. The start of them is here: https://ic.pics.livejournal.com/medievalrosalie/86045060/102371/102371_original.jpg

I've also been making plans for a weekend of virtual medieval fun now the festival is cancelled.

No. It can't be rescheduled for later. A huge amount of money has gone into infrastructure which was in place used or not, so that money is gone. The festival is the major fundraiser to keep the museum doors open and laste year it didn't happen which was bad enough but this year, an enormous amount of money was spent for it and it's gone due to a snap Covid lockdown which is supposed to end Friday (but looking at the stats, I bet it doesn't.) There was no way for the groups to set up their entire camps and displays and have them open and the re-enactors not too sleep deprived to work safely.
