Check-In Post November 27th 2020

Hello, lovely crafters! Welcome to our daily check-in post, where you can tell everybody all about your most recent progress (or lack thereof). Feel free to also chat with other members and generally enjoy yourself!

Check-in is not compulsory, you decide if and when to take part in these posts.

Today's optional question:
Is there any craft you tried out thinking you'd enjoy it, only to find out you don't? Or the other way around, is there a craft you tried for some reason, thinking it'd be a one-time thing, but that turned out to be something enjoyable?

If you have questions or suggestions about the community, requests for tags, or want to host the daily check-in posts, head over to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment there.

I didn't think I'd enjoy diamond painting as much as I do--now I'm really into it. It's very relaxing for me in a different way than knitting or spinning.

I tried weaving but didn't enjoy that at all, even though I thought I'd love it. But nope. Also, needle felting--I stab myself way too much doing it.

Not that I remember.

I've been doing some knitting on my arm warmers today while loading files on my new mini thing, which I already hate. I can't download anything with this new version of windows, and posting is a sheer nightmare. As for microsoft office, I can't even find half of what I need. I don't know if I can use it to write either =(

Also still freezing.

Answer: I knitted a scarf about 25 years ago and never knitted anything else every again.

1. I started a new cross stitch for Christmas. Something smaller, but still using the Stitchtober pattern prompts. Edited to add: I found this 'close enough' converter for thread colors. The internet is beautiful thing. http://www.codyhoover.com/floss-color-tool/

2. I supervised my sons doing a 'build your own volcano' kit, and lent them my wee village which was swallowed up in the lava.

but_can_i_be_trusted: Japanese has no "si" sound; instead, the sound is "shi". (Pet Rescue)

When I was seven, Grandma forced me to sit down and learn how to sew. I knew I'd hate it.

I still hate it. But I have to grudgingly confess that it's an extremely handy skill to have, and I'm reluctantly glad that she taught me. (Not as much fun as when she got me into s'mores and 'I Love Lucy', but you can't have everything.)

Also, does decorating for Christmas count as doing something crafty? Because Mom and I got started today. We have two trees, and one of them is baking-themed; it's already almost 100% done. Tomorrow, it's my job to set up and decorate the other one. Also, yesterday I redid my phone and laptop desktops to Christmas themes.
