Check-In Post November 27th 2020

Hello, lovely crafters! Welcome to our daily check-in post, where you can tell everybody all about your most recent progress (or lack thereof). Feel free to also chat with other members and generally enjoy yourself!

Check-in is not compulsory, you decide if and when to take part in these posts.

Today's optional question:
Is there any craft you tried out thinking you'd enjoy it, only to find out you don't? Or the other way around, is there a craft you tried for some reason, thinking it'd be a one-time thing, but that turned out to be something enjoyable?

If you have questions or suggestions about the community, requests for tags, or want to host the daily check-in posts, head over to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment there.

I didn't think I'd enjoy diamond painting as much as I do--now I'm really into it. It's very relaxing for me in a different way than knitting or spinning.

I tried weaving but didn't enjoy that at all, even though I thought I'd love it. But nope. Also, needle felting--I stab myself way too much doing it.

You never know what you'll enjoy until you try it.

I've never tried diamond painting but I'm fascinated by the kits you see online. Any tips for the beginner?

My best sdvice is to buy the best kit you can afford. Similar to fiber related stuff, cheap doesn't always turn out the nicest. If you are US based, I highly recommend the canvases from Diamond Art Club (DiamondArtClub.com)--they are more expensive but also are amazing.

There's a lot of people you can watch on Youtube who do unboxings and reviews of canvases. I really enjoy watching Rambling Rose and Diamond Painting (that's her channel name), Mrs Crochet and Coffee, Rachel Rae, and WhitneyDiamondPaints. Rambling Rose and Diamond Painting gives really great reviews.

If you are looking on Amazon (or just on the web in general), Tinmi Arts, EverydayEDeals, and Fansells have good canvases.

Most importantly, pick a picture you really love!
