Check-In Post June 3rd 2021
Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

House inspection turned up that it needs a new roof immediately and there's something super weird with the sewer line. So we're waiting to see what the seller does.

That doesn't sound too good.

Mostly, I prepared for house-sitting, which included packing projects. I leave tomorrow afternoon and will be gone over a week. Part of my preparations included checking tracking of a yarn shipment that's on its way to me. I must've checked it 544647 times, lol. I'm disappointed it's not going to arrive before I leave because it would have been fun to bring that project along as I'm eager to start it. That project will be this top:

It'll be my first time crocheting with a linen blend and I'm looking forward to it. I've heard linen can be tough to use but softens considerably with washing.
Tomorrow morning I'm getting up early to help my sister with her garage sale. I'm going to attempt to sell some of the many hats I've made there. I know I won't get anything near what they're worth, but they've been cluttering my room (well, sitting in a laundry basket) for over a year now, and it would be nice to offload some and maybe get some money. We'll see!

The top looks very pretty. I've never knitted with a linen blend either, I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it.
Good luck with selling your hats!

One of the 8th-term-classes at the school where I used to work has invited me to their farewell ceremony, therefore I decided to make them a farewell gift. So I put the kiddie cooking book aside and started making little owls, based on these guys:
Of course, I won't have the time to sew them; making these took me half a year; so I decided to make a cardboard version, in the hope that I'll be able to finish them in the less than two weeks I've got until the actual event. Today, I cut out all the owl bases and the belly parts, and made a rough cut of the eyes. I'll glue these parts together before I'll start with the wings and the beaks.
Partially cross-posted to my LJ, so apologies to those who see this twice. *ducks*
