Check-In Post May 31st 2021

Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I bought more craft paper. Does it count? ;)

That they are. I'm incurably addicted. Fortunately, Mum's the same about paper napkins, so my addiction is watched with tolerant understanding. ;)

What's the paper for?

For no actual project just yet. I simply love craft paper, and these were on sale, incredibly cheap. Usually I decorate journals and explosion boxes with them, or make hand-crafted cards.

Always a wise move to buy something for a future unknown project if it's pretty!

I finished preparing the bed. I got 9 tomato plants and 2 basils into the ground; set up a bean pole/nets, planted several beans plant (mange tout and broad) along it.

There are a few plants I still need to find a home for, herbs to put in their big pots, etc. but much progress made.

In the evening, I finally did a bit more poking at my embroidery.

Home grown tomatoes are the best!

Photo of the surcote with lining. No more sewing progress but I did a bunch of book things for my local libraries and an interview, so hopefully that goes well. I still haven't cut into the red brocade fabric yet. Maybe tomorrow...

Meanwhile, here's a progress photo of the surcote!

Your shiny thing is very shiny indeed. I'd never dare to try my hand in such a piece.

The pattern itself is incredibly easy. It's just the fabric which makes it look impressive. There are no special techniques required. (For machine sewing.) The hand sewing later isn't hard either, just time consuming.
