Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Another day of gardening, this time wrestling a large clump of sort of ornamental grass, except it's not really. It's all over the back garden, although this is the only clump in the front garden, and I suspect it grew from birdseed back when we had cockatiels. It's a nuisance, the blades are thick, tough, and the edges razor sharp, the pollen it produces gets to me every year despite my antihistamines, and like all grasses, it keeps growing no matter how much you cut it. I've cleared it to ground level, just need to get the roots out now.

Oof! Good luck with the grass! That sort of thing is my least favourite garden job. We have a lot of stuff we need to dig out this year (after living here for 5 years we have done nothing but intermittently mow back the grass so far) and I’m dreeeaaading ittttt.

Even though my husband will do most of the work, haha.

I'm back in the crafting game, whoo! A couple of months ago I took the sleeves off of a tight t-shirt and I finally went back to it to do a little block stitching around the arm holes so it won't fray (unlikely as it's knit cotton, not woven, but better safe than sorry and it looks neater anyway.)
Also mended a little fabric bag I accidentally nicked with a breadknife a while back.
I miss knitting but even though it's not yet summer I already feel it's too hot for that. Not even a question of weather and temperatures, just of mood?
(Meanwhile there's a popularity contest happening on Tumblr and I'm having a blast doodling the characters I know when they get pitted against each other and I resent having to choose: there, I'm making them friends instead!! I think I'm actually getting worse at drawing hands because maybe I'm half-assing it instead of really practicing, but boy do I have fun.)

Knitting is on pause here to, for a variety of reasons.

I have been reminding myself how to crochet so I can make the ubiquitous Hexagon Cardigan. Right now I need to practice my granny squares so I am making an envelope shaped pouch that I… don’t need, honestly.

We have also put up a sweet pea trellis in the back garden! A peculiarity of this house is that it is on a hill, and has a back garden level with the second floor accessible by steps up from the balcony at the front. All the rooms we use point out the front over the valley. There is no window we look out to see the sweet peas.

I hope the neighbours like them?

Little pouches sounds like a fun project. I wouldn't mind trying something like that to use up yarn oddments. Do you have a pattern or make it up as you go?

You just need to pick lots of the sweet peas for the house. The more you pick, the longer they'll flower, and you'll have the scent to enjoy.

it really is amazing how much crafting you can get done when that's nearly the only thing you're doing

will probably only get some cross stitch in tomorrow tho because of mother's day (and I've got some stuff I need to work on for monday) so, brief break coming up whether I want it or not

You're making phenomenal progress, and yes, it's amazing how much you can achieve by not doing anything else. I have done that too.
