Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: Does your crafting change with the seasons, certain crafts at certain times of the year?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Anyway, I knitted two more bees and crocheted the sparkly wings needed for this batch. I still have plenty of plain wings, because I was making them long before I got the sparkly white yarn. I need to knit 6 more of the mustard yellow bees, but they will be striped with dark brown instead of black.

I am so desperately bored of crocheting it that I feel like every stitch is driving me closer to going BLIND.
So, what would you do?
Some information:
-My stash fits a dresser, but that's EVERYTHING. It's mostly acrylic, mostly worsted, and totally random colors. The few things that I have in sport weight are as many skeins of the same dye lot in grays, but not enough for anything bigger than a baby sweater.
-Patterns must be free and fairly easy. That's not because of skills, but because my hands are NOT as functional as they should be.
-I knit and crochet, but don't like frilly things. The last shawl I knitted was deliberately a mix of eyelet lace and garter stitch to maximize the density. It's also unfinished, but to pick it up again, I'd first have to spend days figuring out what my original color patterning was, because it, too, is ALL remnant balls of wool yarn. Messing up the pattern would switch it from "handmade" to "homemade," if that distinction makes sense.
-I'd love suggestions for simpler, smaller items which can be crafted and then donated. There's a place that focuses on baby and toddler clothing, which also accepts baby blankets. I'd love something for kids, teens, or adults, too.
Re: Off topic
You could make some arm warmers... *hides* (They're my go-to for relatively quick, easy, don't take too much yarn. Basically a rectangle, sewn into a tube, but leaving a gap for the thumb to go through. I make mine in K1, P1 rib, but other stitches could be used, or rib top and bottom and do the rest in whatever suits.

Answering the question
Our crafting changes both following our energy (we have very low spoons usually) and who is fronting in the body.
🎧 loves to colour (and draw, but he hasn't done that in front yet).
🧘🏿 loves to knit/crotchet/embroider (the last 2 hasn't done in front yet) and recently they started learning how to make beaded bracelets.
🪽 (currently not in the system) LOVES writing! Both fanfictions and meta
🌳 is currently developing a grimoire/herb journal using the "code" Tendrilis (https://www.omniglot.com/conscripts/tendrilis.htm) to write faer notes, and wants to add watercolour illustrations to it too
Etc.
Re: Answering the question
The grimoire/herb journal sounds especially cool. I love the idea of watercolor illustrations.
I wanted to ask, is your lovely rainbow unicorn your own work?
