Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: What are your crafting goals for 2026?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Do bells ring every time a bee gets their wings?

Deciding that it was time to continue with my easier craft project, I started with cutting out the basic parts of an elephant plushie - only to discover that I didn't have any grey thread with which to sew them together. After having spent a small fortune on red and white thread yesterday, I'm no facing the necessity to do the same with grey thread. Why is it that one can have entire boxes of thread in various colours (which I do!) but never the only one needed at any given moment?

oh that's such a mood

thinking about a crochet cotton project at the moment, and I have SO MUCH crochet cotton... but not the type/colors I'd need lol

My current theory is that there are tiny craft trolls like live amongst our supplies and abscond with the color we need, right before we need it.

Their big brothers also run off with zippers.

That sounds plausible.

I didn't do any crafting today but yesterday I made my first crochet square!

Yay for the new crafts!
I'm hoping to make a scarf for my first project.

I think the library has learned after last week that the Friday morning fiber group cannot be tamed. The staff member who is supposed to to supervise us was once again unavailable. She's unfortunately sick and all other events she in charge of were officially canceled and taken off the calendar, except us. We made quite a few jokes about being ungovernable. Still it was a small group. Four of our regulars showed up, One of the new people from last week came back, and one of our regulars brought two of her fiance's younger siblings with her. If I'd had to guess, I'd have said they were four and six. I did not question why they weren't in school. The younger one was very excited to learn how to crochet and the older one complained the entire time. We also had a visitor who just wanted to see what the group was like before potentially joining us, though our meeting time interferes with the daily luncheon at the senior center and Fridays are now apparently Thanksgiving dinner every week, so she has to think about it.

Overall, it was a good time, even with one child definitely not wanting to be there. And our cross-stitcher actually joined conversations. She's usually so quiet.

I stitched together two sleeves for my jacket project. Today I hope to attach them to the bodice. Fingers crossed that the sleeve head fits, because I did alter the armscye. It is a stretchy fabric and there was some ease in the original pattern, so I think they will. I have also attached the band around the base of the bodice to extend the length.

I have discovered audio stories on YouTube, which has increased my sewing time a lot. ;)
