Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Does anyone have any plans for making Christmas gifts or cards?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Glad you found them! Sorry about the lack of crafting...

But you found them. That is the important thing.

Yes, the month very much needs to slow down, please.

That would be lovely.

Finally got off my butt and posted my November crafting update. It's in my journal: https://althea-valara.dreamwidth.org/1258371.html

I've got two snowflakes in process as a test for kidlet gifts. One is in size 3 thread, which I prefer working with but will make a huge snowflake. The other is the same one but in size 10. I've also cast on for a simple headband. Gonna see how long it takes to make one. It's a possibility.

Yesterday I tried gnomes again, but quickly gave up. The yarn I bought for them is too splitty. Plus gnomes will be a lot of fiddly work. Headbands are a lot of work but they're pretty mindless 1x1 ribbing for most of it, so I think will be easier.

Your knitting projects look so cool! I love the colors for the hoodie. Good luck with the snowflake!

Good luck!

Despite being SUPER sleep-deprived I managed to finish one amigurumi sea turtle leg (one to go, and then the head, and then stuffing it all and sewing it all together) and also throw some rows onto my knitted sweater scarf thingie. The weather has turned that kind of vicious cold that lingers in my bones even after I've been indoors for over an hour after venturing outside, but now I am snuggled up in the circle shawl I finished recently and feeling pretty good about that. Managed to finish all the knotting for the norigae, so now I just need to add the beads and a tassel (that I still do need to make oops), but those are not tasks for the sleep-deprived...

Well done! I hope you can find some sleep somewhere.

I did not mean to be away so long, but life has been dramatic.

The closest thing I did to crafting today was catch up on reading what you all have been up to here.

To answer the weekly question, sort of? I still have the cards I made last year (new year's cards with 2025 on them) that never got sent, so I was going to try to send them as Christmas cards this year, but things are still kind of bonkers. I have also made some other Christmas cards. When Lynne went to the hospital and it looked like she wasn't coming home, I made up all the Christmas card kits I'd planned and returned the supplies to her house. Now that she is home and I need things to do with her, I designed and set up a bunch of other Christmas cards, so next week we can make a few, if she's feeling up to it. These ones are much more at her current level of ability than the previous ones were and they leave room for her to add all the gems she wants to them. Also, the library had an open card making session where I made one.

As for gifts, my oldest sister saw the coffee cozies I made for my friend and would like one of her own and I knitted one up for one of my aunts. Everyone else gets baking or fudge, which I need to start doing.

Thanks.

Thanks. Now, I just need to write messages in them and mail them. It's always the hardest part some how.

My fingers are crossed. I also need a mailer to send off the original set.

Thanks!

I bought new stich markers! they didn't have metal ones so I had to stick with flimsy plastic, but I did get some shaped like little safety pins that'll hold close instead of those treacherous fake paperclips.
Not that I did much of knitting, only a couple of rows, but now I'm ready.
