Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question (courtesy of [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith): When learning a new art or craft, do you prefer level-grinding the basics, skipping ahead to the cool techniques, or a mix of both?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Good grief, have I been gone for days again? I seem to be unable to catch up with myself - sorry, folks, I didn't want to ignore this lovely comm, I just... got swallowed by things.

Anyway, I was baking like a fiend again. 10 sorts of cookies are done, decorated and boxed, 10 more are in the planning. I've already decided what the next two are going to be; it's called strategic baking, because one recipe asks for egg yolks only, the other one for egg whites only, so nothing is getting wasted. *is proud*

We were so piss poor when I was a kid that avoiding waste is something deeply ingrained in me.

That is very strategic! Also wow so much baking! Way to go!

Christmas cookies are the gift I give basically everyone, so I need a solid amount in storage. *g*

got the scarf done, started tinkering with the table runner again. Did approx one (1) section of a row on the bat doily and realized I did not want to do that thing, but did get a couple more pieces of a crane done.

Congrats on finishing the scarf!

for what I have around my place I've got 13 sitting around. There's two that have gone to a gal we know in the assistant care facility, so then 15, and a coworker gave me 20$ for one for her daughter so 16 total so far. Unless I'm forgetting something.

I'll tackle the bat doilu eventually. Just uh, maybe in a couple more weeks. It doesn't count as lying if I mean it in the moment.

Worked on the circle shawl at crafting and during doll play time today (as long as I say my lines my daughter will move the doll about as she pleases). Have decided to shelve the sea turtle as a Christmas gift (will finish it as a birthday gift next year). Might work on the origami nativity scene instead.

Multitasking is a useful ability. *g*

I, too, have shelved the dollhouse quiet books as Christmas gifts. They'll serve as great Easter gifts (or so I hope).

Do we get to see a picture when the origami Nativity scene is finished?
