Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

We had the rain today (and some hail!)

Your sweater is growing fast! It's always satisfying seeing another pattern repeat completed.

I thought I was going to need to water too, but the storm was just late. Luckily it arrived before I got my worried self to go out there. My seedlings are too tiny to dry out, and the sage is a new tiny plug from the garden center.

You are POWERING through that sweater! Well done!

The gardening sounds like it's getting there too! We are supposed to have rain for the next 3 days, so that might keep me sewing!

I did a bit of cross stitch, but then realised I'd slipped sideways in the pattern - I'm at the beginning so it's harder to tell - so had to unpick and redo.

I'm only doing a little each day at the moment so it wasn't too bad , although I think it takes longer to undo than to stitch again.

Weeelllll at least you didn't continue off of that messed up start and realize much later (totally have never ever done this on like, a doily). :D

That's true and that would have really thrown me. I know I've made a few small mistakes with the tree, but that's the odd stitch in the wrong shade of green so it won't matter.
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 10:25 am (UTC)
That's really annoying! At least you realised!
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 12:52 pm (UTC)
Yes. I'd have been cross if I hadn't discovered until I'd started on the next band of colour and then realised what I'd done.

Alas, I haven't been doing any crafting of late, but I do read the posts every night and cheer everyone on!

Living vicariously! I've no plants. I'm in a tiny second (read first in the UK) flat. Kids are enough for me to take care of. But it's interesting to read how your garden's growing.

That's still more than I manage when things get crazy here.
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 11:42 am (UTC)
:)
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 07:59 am (UTC)
But you have written a lot of poetry!
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 11:42 am (UTC)
True. I haven't been totally idle, just not crafting.

I try to read back on days I've not managed to do anything too. There's nice people here.

You get invested in the story of people's projects and want to see how they turned out.

Worked a bit more on the baby blanket today in between laundry loads. Husband & I started marinating a brisket to be cooked tomorrow.

This is a photo from last night that I just hadn't put in a shareable place yet, so you can all see the yarn.

Very pretty yarn. Sorbet colours.

Such pretty yarn.

Great colours!

Did no crafting today, but planned a future sideless surcote in silk for a friend to wear in July for a Knighting ceremony, so that will be underway soon.

My kitty had her yearly vet check up today and was pronounced healthy and well (if not a bit chubby) and now she's almost 9, she's 52 in people years, which is the closest we will get to being the same age. We celebrated by going into the garden and staring intently at the part of the fence where a rat runs across at dusk, which is her very favourite thing to do right now. The rat ran. The kitty was deliriously excited. The fairy lights came on. It was pretty magical.

That's sweet. My little dog (she is cat-sized) and I need to patrol the yard regularly. In case. Usually she's fine with me sitting in the yard chair.
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 11:44 am (UTC)
It does sound magical!
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 12:54 pm (UTC)
You clearly both had a lovely time ;)

Again at the end of the night I pulled out my wheel and got about 20 minutes in. It doesn’t feel like much, but it’s adding up.

Garden continues to get attention, mostly weeding right now. I think we’re going to need to source more potting soil before I can carry on with the patio plants.
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 12:55 pm (UTC)
Even 20 minutes is good and I'm sure it works as stress relief as well.
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 01:23 pm (UTC)
I still wrestle with memories of pre-motherhood me who could have a full time job, commute, and still get in many hours in the evenings/weekends of whatever hobby had my attention at the time. 20 minutes adds up and is good for me, but it feels so little when a few years ago I could have spun this same yarn in less than a week. (And in a day or two when fiber arts was my job! XD)

Ah, but your current project - bringing up Enting - is quite time consuming. Although mine have left home and are living their own lives, I still have evenings when I'm planning to do something and the daughter phones, so we spend half an hour chatting and that means I know something I'd planned to do won't get done.

I did some rounds of knitting and started a new granny square for my crochet project :)
Thursday, April 29th, 2021 12:55 pm (UTC)
That sounds like great progress :)
