Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question (courtesy of [personal profile] cora): What was your last project that got put into "time out" and why?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I love leaves. Soon as I finish that last bit of compost on the tulip bed, I can rake up some leaves to mulch the beds.

Also cheers for taking down holiday decorations. So many people have theirs out at the wrong times, it's just jarring. But I admit to liking the recent orange, purple, and teal Halloween lights. :D

Yay compost! We have a grass wall where we throw grass clippings, raked leaves, kitchen scraps, etc.

Agreed. Anything organic can be broken down. Some are just easier and safer than others. Also...

Dungeon Master: *describes shambling mound*

Me: Oh, a compost heap gone anaerobic! I hit it with my +2 Chicken Carcass of Slaying then stand back and watch heroically as skunks and possums tear it apart.

Dungeon Master: *sigh* You win.

I am a fount of random and sometimes useful knowledge. :D The description in the gamebook was just so ... precise. And what rural person hasn't seen a compost pile wander if it's not in a bin?

Excellent progress! Cleaning up after an event always feels like more work than setting up.

Yesterday I worked on the lantern terrarium that will hold air plants. \o/

Today the Poetry Fishbowl is open with a theme of "Fairies and Fey." The first freebie is up, "Time and Relative Dimensions in Magic." There will be a second later because of a new prompter. Drop by and give me some prompts, or just watch the fun.

Thank you! It's taking a while to finish, but it's developing well and I'm having fun.

October crafting update in my journal, here: https://althea-valara.dreamwidth.org/1255976.html - it was a busy month and I finished a few things!

I'm currently knitting a pair of legwarmers. Yes, I just made a pair of legwarmers last month, but (a) they are bright red, which would make me look like an inverted Christmas tree if I wear them with my new green dress, (b) not enough negative ease in them, so they slide down. I'm doing a different pattern in Patons Classic Wool, Aran color so pretty much a natural creamy color. This pair has a large folded cuff, and I have finished that for the first one and am on the main pattern now. Too lazy to link, but the pattern is "Mosey" from Knitty.com. I'm making some alterations to the large size so it's not SO large... hopefully it fits me well!

I'm going to be doing a LOT of knitting over the next week and a half, trying to finish these before the concert I'm wearing the new dress to. I'm pretty sure I have enough time to finish but it will mean giving up most of my free time to knitting.

Good luck knitting all the things! You can do it!

Worked on my circle shawl a bit at crafting today. It’s much easier to work on while chatting than the turtle.
