Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question (courtesy of [personal profile] cora): What was your last project that got put into "time out" and why?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

nothing terribly profound is going on, so the photos come to an end. I did add to the Big doily and finally upgraded to row 54 instead of 53 but yknow how it goes it takes a few rows for any additions to be visually distinct.

Yay for progress on the doily though. That many rounds sounds massive.

Well done on your progress!

Okay, DW is acting up, refused to let me log in on my desktop PC. Will try again to comment later - I am on the iPad at the moment.

Hope DW is acting better for you all around!

Go figure - it let me in now. So here's the actual comment:

Anyway, behold my gingered pears:

They didn't set as well as they was supposed to, but they taste fantastic, and that's the important thing.

Work on "Granny's Secrets", my hand-made recipe book for H's 70th birthday continues taking shape. I hope I can finish it by the day after tomorrow - basically there's just the decorating part left.

They are yummy.

The recipe book isn't as filled as I originally wanted it to be (back when I thought I won't be able to deliver it in time anyway), but since it's a ringbook, I can always add more recipes later.

I have never heard of gingered pears before and I am intrigued but also the jars are super cute and I bet the pears taste amazing!

Good luck on the recipe book. That sounds like a wonderful birthday present.

The pears are yummy indeed. It's just pear jam cooked with ginger and a touch of lemon; nothing complicated.

The jars came out adorable and gingered pears sound delicious.

Well done on your recipe book progress! Good luck on finishing it up.

Well, I did less progress with the recipe book than hoped for, but you can always add more pages to a ring book.

Helped cut and tie two fleece blankets today for the local baby bank. Have worked a bit on my circle shawl here and there because I haven't had a chance to slow down and focus on the turtle, but also I do need to finish Halloween costume accessories. Also I've had an idea for how to decorate my trunk for the trunk-or-treat next week, and if I can get all the pieces to come together I think it'll look pretty cute, but also the decorations can be repurposed later on!

Well done and good luck with your trunk or treat decorations and finishing up costume accessories!

Trunk or treat? I know about trick or treat, but what is trunk or treat?
Friday, October 24th, 2025 01:14 pm (UTC)
Trunk or treat is like trick or treating but instead of going door to door you go car to car in a parking lot and all the trunks (boots) of the cars are open and decorated and people at the car hand out candy. It’s often used for church gatherings or similar community-based activity options instead of going off into your own neighborhood, especially in really rural areas or areas that don’t have a lot of kids.

Yesterday was card making with Lynne. Things went well, considering we ended up using some materials in ways she would have seen as unusual (like using washi tape to give a background stripes) and we got interrupted repeatedly. I kind of feel like I did more little things around the house than we did crafting and I would REALLY like to have a word with whoever gifted her a candle. Lynne was in a good mood, so that's a plus. She also gave me a small box of crafting templates I haven't gone through yet.

I've also got most of the paint on my pumpkin for the library done. The white of the giant eyeball is done and I've got 2 layers of black on the rest of it.

I feel like I'm forgetting something, but I've been a bit flustered all day, so who knows.

Thanks!
