Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: Share your favourite crafting tip, if you have one.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Behold my marmalade:
I think the jars turned out pretty enough.
No other crafting got done today - I had extended kitchen duty and felt too drained afterwards.

Monday was card making with Lynne. It was a very short card making session with a simple card that involved layering circles and putting a sticker in the center. She quite liked it. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to design a future card (I do have one set up for next week) because I spent the next 2 hours going over the monthish of mail that had built up with her. We got everything taken care of except a medical follow up from her insurance I couldn't help her with. I helped with some other things too before we made cards. Helping her is becoming more of a struggle.
On the knitting front, I've started on the next project in the workbook since I had the yarn for it - nice normal, if tiny, yarn. It's a lace knitting sampler. I've been doing a chart pattern section a day as they are short, 12 rows, plus the 6 rows of border between each one. The charts are small and only show the right side rows, so I'm having a little trouble reading them, but otherwise it's going well. Today, I looked ahead and saw there is a mistake in the last chart and I'm not 100% sure how to fix it. I've got an idea of what to do though.
I'm supposed to be writing a proposal for a talk on "there is no wrong way to journal", but I keep second guessing myself.

You're doing what you can fort Lynne, but don't pile too much on yourself.
Charts can be hard to follow, but you'll get used to it. They only usually show the pattern rows, with the reverse rows being purl. I find putting a ruler or a strip of paper on the chart below the row I'm knitting helps me to keep my place. Good luck with fixing the error.
Also good luck with the proposal!

It was my first set of charts I'd encountered like that. Good to know it's the norm. I ended up using a couple index cards, one below the row and one moving along the row to keep my place. Thanks!
I got sidetracked and still need to finish the proposal XD

You'll get there. Getting distracted is so easy.
