Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: We all probably have multiple WiPs, but which of yours has been hanging around longest, waiting to be finished?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

That is the least exciting pig in the history of pigs.

Glad all went well with the sweep! Sorry for the stitching being boring. But yay for stitching progress!

As we all know, a bit at a time ends up finished eventually!

I just got a third skein of a fun, muppet-y boucle yarn I found at the thrift store. The two skeins from Goodwill weren't quite enough to make a full-sized scarf so I'm excited to finish up the project!

That sounds fun. :)

Woohoo! Good luck with the scarf!

Not sure if I'll work on crochet tonight. Spent the morning catching up a bit more yard work, and inside chores this afternoon.

I hope my pepper plants get going, it was so unseasonably cool for most of May they are still so small.

Capsicums can be a bit temperamental. See how you go. The possums ate mine so they're struggling again.

Worked a motif on the capybara.

I had started Alphi's second boot (and wrote up the pattern for it) a few days ago, but I didn't finish it. I potentially have ADHD which means I am one of those people who thinks tasks are finished early and can't do the "cleaning up" part, so when I stopped knitting on it, I just dropped it on my bed and moved it around from bed to chair back to bed for a few days. Two of the DPNs have since fallen out from the moving, and I am cross. Thinking of pulling it out (I hadn't gotten far) and starting his white tunic instead.

So, I'm sitting here mentally knitting in my head, trying to figure out the tunic. I may need to do +shudders+ a BOX PLEAT. But I'm not sure yet - the promotional art sorta makes it look less like a pleat and more like three separate pieces that are sewn together? So I might do that instead.... yeah, I'm probably being ridiculous, converting a "sewn" item to knitting, but it wouldn't be the first time I did it.

Gotta put laundry in dryer now, and then I will do some more thinking... and maybe even some knitting, we'll see.

I think the bottom of the tunic is split, and then the extra rectangle is add d behind to make what looks like a pleat.

Yay for progress on the capybara! You can do it!

I would cry if the needles fell out for reals.

Convert if it works for you and if it's not the first time you've done it and it worked... why not! :)

Managed to get some crocheting in today while the kiddos were napping, but there has been Action in my fandom and a burst of fic fodder so I’ve been consumed by a shiny new plot bunny…

some is better than none...

good news: both cords are done

News: whether or not it'd work to join 2ply cotton thread with a russian join is first impeded by the fact I'd need a (blunt) tapestry needle like two sizes smaller than what I've got to be all that confident with my hands. I'm not waiting that long to keep going so weird fuckass stitches that use both tails so they are both locked the fuck into place for several inches of the project it is!!
Saturday, June 14th, 2025 01:42 am (UTC)
Oh that sounds frustrating.
Saturday, June 14th, 2025 01:49 am (UTC)
incredibly, but it's just the price of continuing onwards at this point. Really it's not even about the stitches themselves even if it also totally is, my hands aren't very dexterous so this takes like 5x longer than it maybe should to swap between the two at the appropriate times.

But then if I wanted a fast project I wouldn't be doing this project to begin with, so forwards march to the end!

Not sure if I shared a pic of the hood progress or not... I'm still going. I've started updating another hood and a cloak, so a few bits and pieces happening.
