Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

The cow is finished and looks cute. I have now started the pony, which so far has hooves and a tail. It's a start!

Well, cow, pony, rooster and pig, plus I stitched a whole flock of little sheep last year, and a sheepdog, so not far off. =D

Sounds lovely. How big are these motifs again?

The cow is a little less than 3.5 inches tall, and roughly the same end to end, although part of her height is her tail. She's swished it upwards.

Erm... sorry, what would that mean in centimetres?

Just over 8cm I think. I always forget that you use centimetres. Sorry.

*grins* It's all centimetres here, but I always preferred inches. I use whichever is more convenient.

You'll see it once I finish the whole set and photograph them. I'm way behind with photographing and posting pics, never got all of last year's projects up.

I've been mostly writing today honestly (fanfiction). I'm signed up to an event so I need to keep a schedule about it to be able to deliver on promises bc other people depend on me on it; I'm further than I need to be but I'd prefer to stay ahead so that I get real time to edit.

Always good to be ahead on writing projects with deadlines. I'm a fanfic writer too, a lot of us here are, so we get it. Good luck!

I think the sucky part is standing at anywhere else where you absolutely cannot write and being like "When I get home I'm gonna get to this part, and maybe this part, and maybe add THIS"

And then you're home and you're like, haha. Time for TV/music/whatever your personal distraction is.

I'm getting further. Like 22k out of projected 30k. I could just straight up come under and be fine but the goals are percentage orientated and based on your projected count, so overshooting was protection in not getting behind

This is why I prefer writing short one-shots. Long fics are HARD.

Hoping to crochet tonight, but last night I got the notion that I wanted to try pressing flowers. The guide I read recommended picking flowers in the morning, so this morning the kiddos and I took a tour around the garden, selected some flowers, placed them between pieces of paper, and put the whole bundle into the book pressed and screwed it down tight. I’ll check on things in a couple of weeks. Not sure I picked the best flowers or arranged them so they’d look their best when pressed as opposed to just smashed, but we shall see. Figured it’s a bit of a low-stakes crafting effort.

If they turn out well, you can use them to make cards, perhaps?

Trial and error - I'm sure you'll figure out what works towards the best result, if not this time then with a few experimental efforts.

Second try

... with the basket weaving. I've used a different wet glue. The work itself went a tiny bit better, but the glue soaked through the cardboard and the weave ended up every bit as lopsided as at the first time. Next try: the glue stick. This promises to be a frustrating project, I'm afraid.

Well, you have to experiment to find out what works. I'd be tempted to staple everything for ease.

I doubt it would work with this kind of things. Besides, these are meant for kids, and staples can cause injuries.

Oh, I will, eventually. Even though I will make the ugliest baskets in history. That is why I started so early.

Took tonight off as I had physio earlier today and it left my shoulder, neck etc sore and my head feeling a bit achy.
