Check-In Post - May 14th 2025

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Do you change crafts with the season or stick to the same crafts year round?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

That's some determined stitching you've been doing - I have faith you can get this done in time - just take care of the eyes and make sure you have some good lighting while you're working.

Whoa! That's so much stitching! Way to go, even if percentage wise it wasn't as much as you'd have liked to have done...

I finished the third row of scales and started the lattice for the fourth row. This is a sort of eyeball it and decide in the moment project, but it's working up at about a third of the size of normal scales so I may end up needing around 27 rows of scales, as opposed to a typical bag's nine.

I sighed up for this come hell or high water though bc I have a vision, so it will be done.

(seam ripper status; presumed dead. funerals tomorrow at the juncture between my hopes and my dreams)

Good luck with the scale bag! It sounds like it'll be awesome for reals.

Last night I finished the second front panel of the cardigan, so tonight it's on to crocheting the sides closed up to the arm ready to start on the sleeves - they are crocheted in place in the round. Haven't started on them tonight because after work I went for a lovely walk and pushed the distance a bit, then came home and finished the next section of the scrapbook/journal project before doing about an hour or so of studying - my brain feels like mush now! A bit of TV and a simple single crochet up the two sides to get this next stage done. Fingers crossed, thumbs held and all that for this going to plan.

Just found out a friend's daughter is expecting so I guess that means I should turn my attention to some baby related projects.... Finish these first though and try to figure out what I have the supplies/kits for already on hand - maybe a cross stitch (pretty sure I have several children related ones to hand and probably underway) and maybe a crocheted blanket or toy from all the many unused balls of yarn.

Wow! So many projects and so much progress! Way to go! The cardigan sounds like it's coming along nicely. A blanket for a baby would be lovely! I adored the handmade blankets I've received for my kiddos.

After an unplanned nap of nearly two hours I felt almost human again and could bring up the energy and determination to do some prep work for my current craft project. I brought out my felt rests (the really tiny ones) and cut out dozens upon dozens of felt circles - in various sizes - that I intend to use later for decorating the little sewing kits. Well, some of them; the rest I'll put into a box for later use. It's always helpful when one has various shapes of felt or paper made in advance.

An unplanned nap is a very much needed one in my book. Sounds like your prep work has gone well! You've got this!

My left wrist has been hurting me a lot recently (not due to crafting but due to holding my wrist at a really weird angle when I'm feeding my baby) so I am thinking maybe I ought to take a brief break from crocheting, but I am still itching to make things...

That's the worst! I hope your wrist feels better quickly.
