Check-In Post - May 4th 2025

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Do you change crafts with the season or stick to the same crafts year round?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I'm fighting rose slugs. Glad you had some cross stitch time too!

Every dead critter counts! Good progress with the roses.

Excellent progress on both the garden and the cross stitch! I’m sure it’s already looking lovely.

Nobody ever let me sew with a migrane.

Don't get me wrong I made better progress than I was expecting, BUT now I either need to find where a seam ripper went or just accept my fate and add a FOURTH set of triangles.

I'm going back to sleep 👍

Hope you sleep it off! And then the seam ripper appears.

Oh no I am so sorry. Kudos to you for working through a migraine, though.

Working a tiny bit on the mantle scarf / runner thing and sitting on the porch. I want to spend some time on the porch before mosquito season starts! XD

It would be nice, I'm ending up talking more than I expected though, others are out and about since it's nice.

Ugh, mosquitoes! Over here, we have stink beetles (or whatever they are called in English) as soon as the weather warms up.

How far are you with the mantle scarf?

Eh, really barely started. It needs to be 71 inches long.

Sitting on the porch while crafting sounds lovely!

It was, I was looking at all my flowers and smelling the iris and roses.

I was working on the small, circular felt plaques that will go into the lids of the sewing kits, holding (later) a number of assorted buttons. I planned to make 6 of them, but - to my pleasant surprise - I managed to make 10, meaning that this particular task will (hopefully) be finished tomorrow or the day after. Yay!

I was pleasantly surprised. *g*

Wow! Way to exceed your own expectations! You’re flying through this project!

That was the quick and easy part, though.

Good, you really moved through that part

Yes, it went better than expected.

Managed to do some scrapbooking of saved letters last night. Was a nice trip down memory lane. Also reorganized my tatting supplies to prepare for two new projects and also made room for better storage of my yarn, so all in all it was a good night!

Sorting and organizing is *so* important. I've been planning to do something like that for months - it still isn't done. *sigh*

Done!

It rained in the morning, but after lunch it stopped. So I managed to plant the blue pot, a purple pot, the log garden, and another big pot with various flowers. Progress.

I'm back from my vacation! The scarf went well when I was away, and I finished my jumper's first sleeve this afternoon (note to self: please don't stab yourself in the throat with the knitting needles while trying on the ongoing jumper for size.)
