Check-In Post - May 2nd 2025

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Do you change crafts with the season or stick to the same crafts year round?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Ah, what color is the rediscovered rose?

Yay for finding the miniature rose! And for the further conquering of the caterpillars!

Alexa, play 'Another One Bites the Dust'.

I've finished two more pincushions - only a single one left. After that, I can move on to the next, equally tedious task: sewing on buttons to 12 individual felt circles that will also go into the sewing kits. Lucky me...

That does sound rather tedious.

Way to go on being so close to finishing the pincushions! Sorry about the tedious task. I find sewing pretty tedious and sewing in the ends on stuff always feels like the worst, but it feels so good when it's all done!

I actually like sewing small objects. The problem is I cut out the parts for 12 of them because I wanted to repurpose an old dress. And after #8 or so it became very boring.🤯

Kudos to you for repurposing an old dress! Okay yeah after eight I’d be bored too…

I let myself start the mantle runner for my brother's place today, I needed something that didn't require thinking. It's also just one stitch and I can put it down and pick it up as needed.

Sounds like an excellent project! I am sure your brother will appreciate it very much!

That sounds very relaxing.

after running on negative sleep I've got 7/10 petals done total, which is +5 since a couple of days ago. I didn't check in yesterday and I blame the insomnia for that.

Ideally I get all three more done tomorrow, though in more practical prediction I'll likely get 2 and finish the last on sunday and then hop to stuffing and sewing regardless of which happens also on sunday while the group plays Masks. At that point counting isn't a concern so I should be fine to work.

Sorry for the negative sleep for reals. I feel you on that a lot. Kudos to you for the progress you've made despite the sleep deprivation!

I finished the hollow book! Put the finishing touches on it today. Also I joined a letter club, as it were, and have decided to make puzzle purses as my contribution to the first round. Ran into some formatting glitches and also decided to shuffle some things around, but I got pieces printed and copied tonight for assembly in the next few days. Need to do another draft of the letter itself and then cut and assemble and decorate, and then I'm good to go! Also hoping to reach the true stopping point on the circle shawl tonight so I can start a new blanket project guilt-free.

My friend and her husband want to be surprised with the babies so I am going with gender neutral variegated baby yarn. Seemed like a safe bet.

The hollow book looks great! I am still impressed by your multitasking powers.

Thank you! I am pleased with how it turned out and may make more in the future!
