Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Did battle with the dead shrub again, and cleared all except a bit of a stump and the roots, which will have to wait until I can get in there with my fork. There's still a lot of surface stuff to clear before I start digging though. Still trying to decide what to do about the flowering currant. Should probably get rid, it's all straggly from trying to get some sunlight.


I spoke too soon about the blasted gooseberry sawflies. Picked at least 20 caterpillars off the bush today, and some of them were quite big. I shall have to keep a close eye and pick off any I see. I grind them underfoot. Nasty little things. Normally I like caterpillars, but these will strip every leaf off the gooseberry bushes, and that doesn't do any good for the fruit.

Kudos to you for battling the shrub! (Feels like we could be talking about a D&D battle...)

Not sure how it would compare to D & D. I had to take my saw to the last bit, it was too thick for the loppers. Just have to watch out for the stump now.

In D&D players can easily find themselves literally doing battle with a shrub. Or, as legend has it, a grassy knoll.

Shrubs can be quite fierce if you stumble on the wrong kind.

I have been chipping away at the hollow book bit by bit each day and I think I've finally reached the desired depth! Now I just need to clean up the inside, glue the outside one more time, then glue the inside, and do a bit of finishing and it's done! Slow and steady wins the race...
