Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Do you change crafts with the season or stick to the same crafts year round?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Go you, defeating the evil bushes valiantly!
Friday, April 25th, 2025 08:39 pm (UTC)
I'm glad it's at least noticeable!
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 02:18 am (UTC)
Way to go! That sounds exhausting, but being able to see a difference must be so satisfying.

Finished the bunny doily yesterday, and wove in ends today, whee! I'll share pics during my usual monthly crafting update in early May.

Also did a few rounds on the purse. It's a paid pattern, but I can tell it hasn't been tech edited because I caught a blatant error in one of the rounds. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to message the designer or not. I'm also not sure how easy it will be to read the pattern - I took a peek at the instructions for the bag's body and my eyes, they swam. There IS a chart but it's kind of weird, so... we'll see. I'm kinda hoping to finish it this month for Nerdopolis but if I don't, I don't.

woo, weaving in ends the day after finishing a doily, you've defeated the forever-unfinished-last-step demon, that's very commendable!

paid patterns that have errors are the worst, even more when you can't know what kind of oddness the designer has in there before buying it. wishing you the best of luck with decoding it.

I'll watch for that, bunny doily sounds interesting!
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 02:19 am (UTC)
I look forward to the bunny doily! Good luck with the purse pattern. Even if you don't get it done in time for Nerdopolis, I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out!

I managed to finish another two pincushions during the ad breaks of my daily TV programme. Eight more to go, then I can start the next phase of the little sewing kits, namely the button holders. Yay!
Friday, April 25th, 2025 08:53 pm (UTC)
Oh, I do various task during ad breaks: making the bed, cleaning my teeth, putting on the water to boil... *g*
Friday, April 25th, 2025 08:40 pm (UTC)
They do go fast then, good.
Friday, April 25th, 2025 08:53 pm (UTC)
I use the production line method: one task on all 12, then moving on to the next task. That's the fastest way.
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 02:19 am (UTC)
Way to go with the pincushions! You're cruising right along.
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 06:43 pm (UTC)
I've reached the point where I get bored with a particular phase of the project. So I'm trying to get it done as quickly as I can.

finished all black on the sprite stitch I'm working on! now I can relax and mostly just paint in the rest of the colors without constantly counting and recounting where I'm at. there is very much a benefit in patterns that have very obvious inks in one color. I'm getting better at frogging but it's still not the mostly fun activity, ahah.

We're going to be hosting a little pride exhibition when pride month rolls around, and I'm starting to wonder if I should make anything for it. maybe if I figure out a small subtle pride pattern I could make as many keychains I could and give them out. so I'm gonna be rotating possible patterns for that now. would be very cool,

That's great for the pattern, getting to the point your brain can relax a bit.

Have fun picking out keychains. :)

Way to go on all your stitching progress! You're doing awesome! The keychains sound like a super cute idea. Have fun picking patterns!
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 06:44 pm (UTC)
Keychains are very practical and usually well-received. Have fun!

I worked on the blue doily (finally) and there are only 2 rounds remaining.

Crafting time was made possible by the constant threat of rain!
Friday, April 25th, 2025 08:55 pm (UTC)
We just have to make the best out of unpleasant things, too. Good luck with finishing the blue doily.
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 02:20 am (UTC)
Way to go with the doily!

I have achieved... nothing <3

Couple of rows, outside of jokes, which isn't nothing but when your widest bit of the project is 18 stitches that's negligible ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

For the weeks questions is a little it of everything all the time, except scarves which unlock in October so I hopefully get them done by Christmas.
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 02:21 am (UTC)
I love your use of the phrase "unlock in October". There's something deeply poetic about it.

Still, a couple of rows is more than no rows!
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 06:45 pm (UTC)
Small steps will bring you to your destination... eventually. ;))

Handkerchief done! https://www.instagram.com/p/DI4HHsZgoje/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

If I do that edging pattern again I will probably alter the spacing a bit. That way the lace will look less crowded...and also go a bit faster. But it's all wrapped up in tissue paper with a card for the recipient, and with like a week to spare, so I feel pretty good about it. Think I'm going to try a parasol next...

Oh, this is lovely! My grandmother made table shawls edged with a crocheted pattern; I know it's a different technique (at least I think it is), but it looked very similar. I could never do this.
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 12:42 pm (UTC)
I almost finished both sleeves! I've just started the ribbed part at the end, but I'm going away for a full week so it's on hold, and I'm bringing my scarf project along instead.
