Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

It's ben a nice, dry, sunny day, so I've been outside cutting back holly, and ivy, and privet, in preparation for removing the roots the upper parts were attached to. Supposed to rain for the rest of the week, so I'm not sure when I'll get to the next stage of the process. Itching to get back to my cross stitch.

My main problem is that I want to cross stitch, but I want to work in the garden, and the days aren't long enough for me to do both, so I just have to let the weather choose for me.

I did enjoy myself outside, but I plan to stay indoors today. Everywhere is wet out, but the sun is shining so it will probably dry quickly. The next couple of days are supposed to be dry though, so I'll take today off.

wrapped up my I-cord and discovered it does not particularly fit through the holes I need it to :)
I've accepted I just have a spare for future, and made different cords.

I'm probably gonna be making a few of these things next, which for anyone who doesn't wanna look is arigurumi origami cranes

They are very pretty. I assume they aren't easy to make, though.

They're decently easy honestly! The only real stand out is the requirement you know enough sewing to stick the 5 pieces together.

A lot of crocheters seem put off by patters that need any sewing, and as for me as long as it stays simple I don't mind it.

Isn't that just typical though? All that effort to make a cord that is now spare. Frustrating for you.

The cranes are brilliant! They look like they'll be a fun project.

Sorry the first cord didn't work out, but indeed you can save it for later.

There's something wonderfully meta about amigurumi paper cranes that I can't quite explain. They look so fun!

Ooh, amigurumi origami has never even occured to me before, makes me realize that you can do fairly flat looking stuff with crochet as well!! They're adorable.

So, I totally forgot to check in yesterday. But 9 out of the 12 pincushions-to-be are sewn together now. I hope to make the last 3 tomorrow, and then iron them and stuff them.

Finished a column of stars for my 'restless hands' project.

Going to do at least one block of the Teal Stars quilt (that has stalled).

Finished the cube pop-up books a couple of days back and got them all tied up and tucked into envelopes ready to go. Now that my oldest daughter knows how to write and spell(ish), I will have her help make cards to go with them, because handmade cards are super fun. I continue to work on the hollow book and have made it about...halfway down the depth of the book? I don't think I'll go all the way to the bottom but I want to go pretty deep so as to have decent-sized storage space. And I am on the home stretch of the tatted hanky! Gonna try to finish it tonight, but I am at thread chicken/thread roulette stage, so here goes...something!

Well done! I'm sure the recipients will love their pop-up cube books. And handmade cards are indeed fun to make.

Maybe three quarters of the way to give the hollow sufficient depth?

I've pivoted more to drawing these few days; I've decided to draw my beloved characters in traditional Silesian clothing. And while I'm very slow at drawing, I've got friends cheering me on, so I'm enjoying it.

Cross stitch has also been having attention, albeit less. I started on knee if the GB sprite "keychains" and. Turns out. They're about palm sized. So I'm gonna make a finish that less counts on them being on keys, and more one that you can just hang/snap somewhere. Watching Star Trek animated in the bg, loving how wacky all the animation is.

It's getting warm. I love the blooms and such but unfortunately my brain is a little bit like discworld troll's - functions less when heated. So cross stitch has been saving me as an Activity I don't necessarily have to think that hard during.

Heee, yes, being hot makes brains melt a bit, I suspect, but at least we don't turn into rocks. Always good to have more Discworld and Star Trek fans around. We are a fandom loving bunch.
