Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Also in today's news, yes, after it being forecast several times and not happening, it snowed. And no, it wasn't forecast for today. We had quite a blizzard going for a little while, snow actually settled, which won't have done the blossom on the plum tree and the Berberis much good, but it seems to have melted again even though tonight's temperature is supposed to be -2 C but feel more like -7. Ah, April. Last week in was 21 C in March, now it's winter again.
I successfully toasted my final hot cross bun without igniting it, my old skill has returned, just as I've run out of buns. *sigh*

Yes, we've had several sudden hail/snow falls.
Shame about the end of the buns, you'll have to find something else!

April snow is most unwelcome.
I will, but I don't know what.

I still have a few hot cross buns left but not many...

I only got a pack of four. I can't have a lot of breads and stuff. Much as I love them, they don't love me these days.

No other crafting. I wanted to keep poking at the cross stitch, but the child took a 20 minute nap at nursery which led to him being awake 3 extra hours into the evening... pretty much until we went to bed ourselves -_- I don’t like to do pokey, delicate things when he’s being a hurricane.
I’m enjoying spinning again although getting the wheel in and out is a bit of a faff, but cross stitch is once again reminding me that I’m a bit burned out on knitting and want to do other things with string. I was really getting into more freehand embroidery around the time the pandemic started, but set it aside pretty much when all of my free time dissolved (very anxious, non-sleeping toddler with no nursery; trying to safely get groceries for my family and elderly neighbors early in the pandemic was like a full time job in itself, and then we began a very lengthy and stressful cross-country move, etc.).
I’m finding surprisingly little about hand spinning embroidery thread on the ‘net. Clearly, it’s been under explored by modern Internetty people.

The pandemic has made a lot of things more complicated, eating up free time.
My mum used to want to try freehand embroidery, and other kinds of embroiodery. She bought loads of books, but it wasn't to be. I've still got all her old embroidery transfers too, but that just isn't my thing.
Maybe you could pioneer hand-spinning embroidery thread!
