Check-In Post - April 1st 2025

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Do you change crafts with the season or stick to the same crafts year round?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

The weather of late has been unbelievably good for the time of year. It was windy here but lovely sunshine today again as well. Well done on the gardening. I hope you get a bit of relaxation time as well.

That super interesting to me that it will soon be too hot to knit!

Switching crafts might be a sensible move if the weather warms up. Good luck with your gardening.

It was almost chilly here again, we are flipping back and forth with temps.

Kudos to you for gardening! I gave up on my garden last year and let the chipmunks have it...

Yay for cross stitch!

Sticking with the cushion cover today, but might do some more of the crochet cardigan tomorrow. Not getting through as much as I hoped at the moment as not feeling too good - post-op recovery seems to have stalled and gone backwards somewhat, so I ended up visiting the GP today.

Still progress. Hope the visit to the GP will help.

Definitely take it easy if you aren't feeling good. I hope the visit to the GP will help.

If you feel like any crafting under those circumstances, it's good progress. I hope the recovery starts going better!

Oh no! I hope recovery can get back on track and you feel better soon. Kudos to you for making progress despite it alL!

I find the question interesting. I hadn't thought of seasonal crafting but of course it makes sense. Definitely holiday and season influenced in the themes but not in the craft itself, I think.

My April monthly planner spread:

And a nice BBC Sherlock coaster made for me by a DW friend. The fabric was bought on etsy.

March crafting update in my journal here: https://althea-valara.dreamwidth.org/1234258.html

Featuring the legwarmer, a crocheted phone stand, and a coaster.

I'm done with work for the day, so I'm now going to work on something. Watch me cast on the poncho, even though I have PLENTY of other things in progress.

Finishing projects is such a relief, isn't it? Especially if one is prone to startitis (I know I am).

The leg warmer pattern looks super cute! As does the crocheted phone stand. And I love the spiral/swirl pattern for the coaster!

I feel you on starting a new project despite having others in progress...

Still alive... barely. I had a few really unpleasant days. But today that friend of mine appeared on choir practice and brought me a large bag of empty toilet rolls; another choir member brought a few more, so I can't delay making those 18 remaining egg baskets any longer.

My feelings about that fact are slightly ambivalent.

I did 2 more rounds on the doily tonight, so finished 11 of 14.

Yesterday our (husband and I) project together was to pull the carpet off the stairs. This was the last of the ancient stinky carpet remaining in the house. The hardwood underneath is in okay shape.

I mostly just crochet for actual crafting. Sewing is because I have to. :P

I got zero crafting done yesterday...except buying supplies to try to crochet a parasol because why not.

Hoping to get pictures cut for my next round of cube pop-up books (with pictures of my kiddos, to give as Mother's Day gifts to the grandmas).
