Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Do you remember the first thing you made in school?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

That looks great, also now you have it totally finished and not pending.

Thank you! I love moving things completely out of the "to look at" mental pile!
Thursday, March 27th, 2025 09:54 pm (UTC)
Nice!

I've never managed to finish a cross-stitch, so I admire people who can do it.

That bookmark is so cute! I don't do cross stitch so it never would have occurred to me to add a backing but that's a brilliant idea.
Thursday, March 27th, 2025 11:42 pm (UTC)
Thank you! It gives the bookmark a nice "body" and keeps it from being too floppy!

Finally started the doily, picked lavender thread. I'm 5 rounds in (starting rounds are small).

I am gearing up to be our general contractor for big projects this summer.

Managed some progress on the hanky edging thanks to other people playing with kiddos and holding baby, so that was nice. "No housework for two weeks" is some of the best hospital discharge instructions I've ever had.
Friday, March 28th, 2025 06:46 am (UTC)
Hooray for no housework! I'm glad you were able to make some progress.

I ended up carrying on with the cushion yesterday. So today I’ve just worked in the cardigan. I’m about a third of the way down the second front panel.

Had a phone call earlier this evening arranging to go to a wool shop tomorrow- I’m hoping to find a pattern and some new yarn but haven’t decided what I’d like to make yet - I think either another cardigan or a sweater in crochet

Well done on your progress! I hope you have a fun trip to the wool shop.

This is my latest project, not complete yet:

Photos: Antique Jar Terrarium Build Part 1: Washing, Drainage, and Barrier

I still need to make and fill in the substrate. I want to plant this one with mosses. I also hope to test out the new mini-glue gun I bought, by making a miniature park bench from twigs.

Much of what I've been up to lately is spring planting.

The terrarium is looking great so far!
Friday, March 28th, 2025 06:58 am (UTC)
Thank you! I'm having fun with it. The big jar was such a lucky find. :D
Saturday, March 29th, 2025 04:53 am (UTC)
Thanks! I got the substrate mixed up today, so that's progress.
Sunday, March 30th, 2025 05:23 am (UTC)
I got the mosses in today! \o/ It actually looks like a terrarium now. I couldn't add the flaky leaf litter, though, because of rain. :/ I'll have to wait for it to dry out enough to see the layers better. No idea when I'll manage to make the little bench either.
