Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Do you remember the first thing you made in school?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Well done on the sleeve progress and I hope the weather looks up for you tomorrow

I stayed up late last night and finished the socks - it’s a good job I did undo the first sock as I not only redid them in the smaller size, but I also dropped the pattern to save further yarn, I ended up working on the both to keep them of a matching size. The pattern wasn’t showing up well when I had done it originally - the popcorns were getting lost in the changing colours.

Today I worked more on the painting and have found a pattern to make a beanie hat that I had planned. I am going to try starting that this evening. I did start it earlier in the day but the phone rang and I had to put it down before I’d got far enough around the magic circle stitches for it to hold together.

Up to row 42 on the blanket. No more mistakes since fixing that one bad row, but progress is slower than I had hoped. I think it's because there's no mindless knitting in this pattern -- every row is different, and the repeats within the row are too long to memorize. So I'm always having to count, which slows things down, and also I have to stop if I want to carry on a conversation or watch TV. But the design is really starting to take shape now, and I'm really liking how it looks.

Congrats on the finished socks!

Good luck with finishing the sleeve!
We've had rain all night; nothing while I had to roam the town in the morning, fortunately.

Interruptions are so annoying, especially at such a vital point. Better luck tomorrow!

One more simple egg basket today. Hopefully, I'll get those toilet rolls a friend promised on Tuesday.

I also visited Tedi (a shop that sells cockery, gifts, craft supplies, party items and, and, and...), where I bought some cheap pins and needles for the pincushions/sewing kits I'm planning to make later. And a small crafting kit to make bunnies out of pom-poms, which was totally unnecessary but I couldn't resist. So, if I ever get around to make those plaited baskets, I'll have something to put into it. Aside from paper grass and tiny chocolate eggs, that is.

Things are going well on the beanie. I've finished the crown already and am about to start on the sides - it's growing well so hopefully won't take me too long to complete.

Thank you.

It was an important phone call so I figure I can forgive them :) I've made a start tonight and things are going well so far.

It's good that you like the way it's turning out - that will make it worth all the effort.

That's a wonderful collection of things to come out with. Have fun using up the supplies.

Not sure if you use Hobbycraft but I heard that they have called in administrators - hopefully they will come up with a plan to keep them in operation. I've got some great art supplies from there when I've been in the area - we don't have anywhere that covers so many different types of crafts here. Last time I went to the Nottingham one, I got stuff for felting - not that I've done any real felting yet - I still need to figure out what I'm doing with it.

Sorry for the rain. But way to go on sleeve decreases! You've made so much progress!

Wow, so much progress on so many projects! Way to go! Glad all worked out with the socks. Good luck with the beanie hat!

That sounds like a complex pattern, but I am glad you're liking how it looks even if progress is slow.

Book finished last night! Good thing I had all the holes punched ahead of time.

Lessons learned: tighter stitches next time. Also it would go faster and smoother with a curved needle, so I need to see if I can find some in my stash or pick them up. Also the linen thread was good but I think maybe it needs waxing. The waxed thread I already have was way too heavy for that book project, so I'll stick with the size thread I used on this project. Pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Today I started work on another tatted hanky edging. Didn't make it super far, and I started work using a bobbin of thread from the previous project, so soon I'll have to refill the bobbin and join new threads again, but once I'm past that tedious part, I think it'll go fast, and in a couple of iterations I won't need to look at the pattern much to work.

Hi all!

Haven't been around for a minute, but, I finished my project tote today! Posted a pic here: https://ebrillblaiddes.dreamwidth.org/2025/03/13/sign-of-apocalypse.html

I got my new double-pointed knitting needles plus some extra wool (what my aunt gave me was enough for either a child's jumper or and adult-sized vest) and promptly started a new jumper with all that instead of finishing the previous one.

Thank you! I am pleased at how well it turned out. It's not that small, just a quarto print, so about a quarter of the size of a piece of US Letter Size paper, close to an...A6, I think? Between an A6 and an A7.
