Check-In Post - March 11th 2025
Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: Do you remember the first thing you made in school?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Also spent an hour outside working on the first of the back garden buddleias. These are both much bigger than the one out front because they didn't get cut back at all last year (the weather in March was atrocious) while the out front got cut back to half height in autumn because it's in an exposed spot that gets a lot of wind. Both the back garden ones are also on the raised bankings at opposite sides of the garden, so I had to clear some other stuff just so I could get to the first one. It will take at least one more day top finish cutting that one back before I can to the third one, but the forecast is for rain for the next few days so I'll just have to hope there are a few clear spells.

Thanks. The best thing about buddleias is that they can be cut right down and the just grow again, so I can be as rough as I want with them.

Way to go on tackling the buddleias. Hope the weather gives you some clear spots so you can keep going with it.

Sounds like you and your mom have done a lot of organising getting things ready for Baby Sister. I hope the older two won't mind sharing.

I also tried swatching my watercolor colored pencils, but none of my paper seems to be big enough to do the whole set on one page. It was fun playing with them though.
On yesterday's check in, I forgot to add that I finally did project #16 of the sketchbook project things. We were painting bubbles by laying down a circle of color and using water to draw the color into the circle. Mine are not nearly as saturated as the ones in the instruction video, but they look like bubbles and the watercolor colored pencils did work a lot better than regular watercolor paint would have, as predicted.
As is probably obvious, I was finally able to do the #16 project because Mom found my watercolor colored pencils. After I had been hunting for them previously, I had narrowed it down to one craft supply box they were probably in, but it had some other boxes on top of it and I was too tired by them and decided it was a battle for another day. My mom decided to surprise me by looking for them in the box for me while I was a Lynne's and they were in there.
Way to go Mom.

So glad your mum found your watercolour pencils for you. Your sketchbook bubble project sounds fun =)
